has anyone had any experience with the double din Pioneer In-Dash Video System (AVH-P4000DVD)?
They recently went on sale at best buy for 400 bucks and my buddy works there so I can get further discounts.
I want to make sure I'm not throwing away cash for something that will end up frustrating me in the long run.
I put one in my car recently. I have a 2004 cavalier, It fit in the dash well, i just had to cut out some plastic behind it. That Pioneer itself is awesome. I got it mostly for its Ipod playback. If you have an Ipod definately consider getting the Ipod connection cable. Its got a super fast connection to the ipod, no lag or anything. The touchscreen is really nice and easy to use. There is an usb connector that comes out of the back of the unit. I'm pretty sure it will work for flash drives, but so far all I've tried is a WD Passport hard drive and connecting my ipod to it and neither worked. I also attached a small switch to bypass the screen that prevents you from watching movies while driving. Also if you just want to use cds, this unit can handle dvd's with music, and you can put the music into mp3 format, so essentially you can put 1,000 songs on one cd. You can organize these into folders and stuff and the unit will show the folders. You can also use a backup camera and blue tooth, but i haven't gotten either of those yet. The audio quality is fantastic, There are tons of different equalization controls on the unit. Theres a high pass + low pass filter, subwoofer control, faders, custom equalizers, and alot more that i can't think of right now off the top of my head. I guess the only gripe i would have is that you can't change the background of the unit from the colored squares. You can change the colors of it though, and you can also change the button illumination. Overall this unit is definately the best I've owned. I've had no frustrations with it yet. I got mine through an ebay store for $350 shipped, and paid about another $100 on dash kit/ antenna adaptor/ gm wire harness.
Oh and i almost forgot, I don't know if you're looking to use amps and new speakers anytime soon, but the unit only has 2 RCA outputs. I thought that i would never end up using them, but now I just bought an amp and front components, and am getting a sub soon so it is kinda limiting in that respect. The rear output can only be used for either rear speakers or a subwoofer, but not both.
Sorry for just rambling on, i tried just to tell you everything i could think off the top of my head, i'll probably think of more later
thanks for all the info,
I think I'm definitely sold now
We'll see what we can work around to get some subs with it though haha
