hifonics bx1205 d and w7???
Wednesday, August 20, 2008 6:11 PM
i just picked up my 12 inch w7, single voice coil 3 ohm stable sub. i have a hifonics 1200 watt amp running to it. it cut out earlier today, so i went to the local audio shop, where i spend my life savings, and asked my boy to check it out only cuz i never had one and didnt know how there supposed to feel and whatnot. turns out, in his opinion, the subs not getting enough power. he told me it needs AT LEASE 700 to move it. basically what am i asking is with the right adjustment, will my hifonics amp run that w7 with no problems?

The spec from sonic electronix is:
900 watts @ 2 ohms
1200 watts @ 1 ohm.

Again, thats specs from the site, any feedback or help would be great. thanks guys

You could run it with 50watts.
Would it be loud? no.
Would you try to push it too hard and fry the amp? Likely.

Those W7s play nicely anywhere between 700 and 1500 Wrms

Looks like your boy is smoking bird. Your amp will be doing around 700 watt rms (maybe a little less) at 3 ohm.

Set your gains properly.
