No power from orange ACC wire

So I was doing a deck install on an '02 cavy without using the likes of a GMCO, so I tapped into the orange accessory wire in the ignition harness for the accessory. There is already a fuse for the accessory wire on the back of my deck, so I did not bother to put another fuse onto this wire. As I was in the process of connecting my new accessory wire that runs in behind the deck, into the deck harness itself, it somehow sparked against the deck cage (I'm assuming, only caught it out of the corner of my eye). I immediately taped the wire up and checked my fuses, all were good, so I continued with the install.

After everything was all hooked up and cleaned up, I turned the key to ACC, but had no power from the deck. I tested the accessory wire I ran over in behind the deck with the DMM, and I got nothing from it. Double checked all fuses at fuse block, and under the hood; all were still good. Tested the other circuits on ACC, wipers, signals, lights, HVAC, etc, all were still running fine. Went to crank the car over - wont crank, checked the voltage at the battery, I believe it was around 8.5volts initially, but it kept on dropping .01 volts every 2-3 seconds. Disconnected battery and tested again, which showed a steady voltage. Connected it back up and threw the charger on it on the crank setting, and turned over the car a couple minutes after, which started and ran fine. I then let it sit on the charger for about 10 minutes at 10amps to get it charged back up.

Once again, I checked all my fuses, unplugged the deck, cut the accessory wire I was using for the deck, closed all doors, took out the key, and once again tested the battery.. Still dropping by .01volts every few seconds.

Currently the car is sitting with everything still disconnected, and I am no further then when I began.

I cannot figure out what went wrong, where I am loosing voltage from, and why my orange accessory wire now has no voltage. Any suggestions or advice welcome!

Thanks

Fuse tap off your windshield wiper circuit. Probably the easiest way to get ACC power to the deck.
IIRC, I thought we needed to tap into the brown wire? Could be dead wrong though, since I went the fuse tap route.

Orange is ACC1, and brown is ACC 2. They share the same properties. Before I taped into it, I tested to make sure it gave me power in the accessory and on positions, which it did. I now have no power at all from that line. I know I can get power from elsewhere in the car, but I need to figure out what is wrong first.

All my fuses are still good today, the battery is still losing power, and I still have no power on the orange accessory wire - at all.

Anyone have any ideas??

your car is shorting somewhere. check the big fuse box under the hood and make sure everything is kosher

It's possible that shorting the wire against the cage burned the wire somewhere, causing it to now short out against the body. If it was a blown fuse, sure you wouldn't have power but there would be no current draw.
Like Chris said, check and recheck everything.
