wiring an amp??? very confused

ok so i have 2 kicker cvx's which rms at 750 watts each..they are 2 ohm subs dvc... i bought a kicker zx1500.1 amp to power them.. im confused though. i was going to wire the subs at 1 ohm to give them 750 watts a piece from the amp. a pro that installs systems said that was a bad idea because the amp would then be wired at 1/2 ohm. he said that is bad on the amp and that i should wire them at 4 ohms and give the amp a 2 ohm load. then how much power would be going to each sub??? i want at least 600 to each sub! is the way im wanting to install it wrong??? please help!!!!!!!!

wire them like this:

you could wire them to .5 but your amp would not like it.

Your amp is not 1 ohm stable and does full power at 2 ohms so you will get 750 per sub, if you wire them like above your amp will be happy and safe.

That's too much like work up there. Wire them in parallel, then series.

ok..let me get this straight. i wire the amp at 2 ohms? does that mean the subs are wired at 4? because i told the guy i wanted to install the subs at 2 ohms and he said that would make a 1/2 ohm load on the amp.. so are the subs wired at 2 or 4 thats my only question now??? thanks though!!!!

In that diagram, the voice coils are wired in parallel to 1 ohm (they can only do 1 or 4 when wired together), then when you combine the two subs in series the amp sees a 2 ohm load. Wire it up just like that picture shows you and you'll be just fine.

Let me straighten you out. You wire the speakers to a certain resistance. This would give you a 2 ohm load of reistance at the speaker ends. Both setups have two dual 2 ohm subs at 2 ohm final output.

ok..i get it now. but one more thing. what is the difference in those 2 diagrams? will they both give 750 watts or is one better than the other????

the end result is the same....same resistance, just a different way of doing it. one is series-parallel....the other is parallel-series

ok one last thing...i finally have everything but wiring...i know i need a power wire and ground cable..besides how much wire i need to run from the battery to the amp, how many feet of wire do i need to go from each sub in the series-parallel circuit like the diagram? the subs are in 2 separate boxes but are beside each other? im getting 4 gauge wire and i dont wanna buy way to much.

get a tape measure and measure the distances, then add it up

yea thats what imma do....can i use the power wire as a ground wire or are they made differently? and can i use 4 gauge for everything???

theres no difference. make the ground as short as possible.
