get an amp that puts out 1000WRMS at 1ohm
that you can afford

those subs on a real 1000rms would die.

I'm talking about headroom here. The subs would only be wired down to 2ohms too you might have noticed.

I understand headroom and room to upgrade later on, but if the guy is on a budget enough to not be looking at higher end subs, why spend the money on an amp with 4 times the power he needs? 250-400 RMS at 2ohms is easy as hell to find cheap as dirt.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've done a little more researching and Audiopipe makes an 12" subwoofer that runs 800 rms and 1600 max. After adding it all together consedering an amp powerful enough it comes out to only about $30 more than the set of 10"s that I was going to get.

So I guess one of my questions is, what would hit harder or sound better...the two 10"s or this one 12"?

Heres the 12" sub.

And I believe im right, would this amp not be perfect for that single 12"....

thanks guys!

you can only get 400 watts with that amp....look for something between 800 - 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms..

It says 800 rms bridged though...i dont fully understand what bridged means.

well if you are only getting one sub bridging doesn't even apply to you

It completely applies.
Bridging is when you take both channels of a two channel amp and 'combine' them by using the + of one channel and the - of the other. (usually, the amp will tell you how to wire it)

If you're running one sub off a two channel amp, then yes, you are concerned with the bridged rating.

actually you are both right and wrong....if that makes any sense. Reason i say this is because for the OP it doesn't apply because hes using a 4ohm DVC sub..which he will not be able to bridge....but brad did properly explain what bridging means....oh and if he had a SVC 4ohm sub then it would apply...

I stand by my original statement.
Sending two channels to two different coils in the same driver is a bad idea

oh I misread what you posted. You're right, he won't be able to bridge it unless he gets a 2ohm DVC or a 4ohm SVC OR a 2ohm bridgeable amp.

I was about to come in here and wreack havoc about illd's comment.... But then I realized I was misunderstanding the same thing you were, brad. LOL

ahh, I understand now, bridging seems more complex then I had thought. So to power this 12" I need an amp that can put out 800 rms or more at 2 ohms. correct?

Yes, unless they have a dual 2ohm version. You will find that getting an amp that puts out 800-1000W RMS at 1 ohm is a TON cheaper than one that can do so at 2 ohms.

Examples:
If you use this amp at 1ohm, you get 1000 Watts-
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6040

If you double the price, for the same exact line of amps, you get double the power at 1ohm, which is about double what you get at 2ohms-
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6043

To get 1000w at 2ohms, In this exampe, is double the price than to get it at 1ohm.
