adding a sub to 2000 sunfire gt......

I would like to add a single 10" sub to my sunfire gt with the stock monsoon stereo.

My question is can I tap into the speaker wires going to one of the stock 6 x 9 woofers to feed the music to the new sub's amp?

Is this alright to do or would using deck-powered signal front the fronts be better rather than the amped ones from the rear?

thanks....

ok... if you mean using a converter that taps into the speaker wires and plugs into the RCA's, then I am fairly positive you can use the rears. If you are asking to run speaker wire from the speaker's wires to the sub, NO. The sub needs to be run off an amp. You don't just buy a sub and splice it into the vehicles speaker wires.

Yes, I know I need an amp. I just wanted to know if running the music signal from the amped rear woofers is bad for the sub's amp or should I use deck power to signal the sub's amp instead?

no, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Just gotta get a high level converter and hook it up. Shouldn't be an issue at all.
