I have a 99 cavy that I'm doing an upgrade on. I'm trying to do the interior before winter and then do the ecotec swap next spring-summer. I've swapped the dash, support bar, center counsel, ... to the 00+ but I'm having trouble finding the wiring diagram for the 00+. My haynes only shows the 95-99 harness even though it's supposed to be for the 95-04 all models (no ecotec, how gay)! I currently have the old cluster in for now but it's half pulled apart and looks redneck as hell. I got the new style connector, cluster, as well as the bcm but the connector has like half the wires than the old style connector. Anybody have a diagram for me?

You'll need a 2000 PCM to drive the Class 2 protocols also. Basically, gut the car and all the wiring, put in a 2000 wiring harness. You'll need to change a few wires in the dash-to-body harness too, esp the ones with the fuel tank.
Also you need to remove the convenience centre under the passenger side of the dash.
Lucky for you it's a 99.. not that hard. The fuel level sender doesn't need to be changed.
Thanks. I'll probably do the fuel tank also since I was told that the fuel lines are easier to work with the plastic tank when I do the ecotec swap. cant wait for the 40 hp difference before the cold air, header, high flow cat, and catback. then maybe a supercharger. I know it wont be fast but I just wanna line up to a stock mustang and remind him its still a ford.

You also have to change to pcm? I thought it was just the bcm since thats where the odometer is stored at on the 00+. Not to be rude but whats the difference between my 99 pcm and a 00+ pcm besides location?

Oh boy.. you're opening a big can of worms. You can't just plug a 00 cluster into a 99 car... won't work. You need the BCM to drive it, but then you also need the PCM and all the controls from it... yeah, big differences here.
Start with the protocols... 95-99 J-cars use UART to communicate between different modules.. one signal wire between the PCM, cluster, airbag module, etc.. things like the radio are discrete powered, switched not computer controlled.
Everything changed for 2000 model year... they use Class 2 wiring protocols, which basically run the computer signals in a loop - if something's missing, but the loop is complete, no big deal... but if there's a break in the signal, stuff doesn't work right.
Big things - airbag module. ABS module. Cluster. Radio.
Like I said before - you're going to gut the whole car and start over. There's lots of stuff that needs to be removed or changed for this to work right. You're going to have to do it all eventually anyway for the Ecotec swap.... so do it right to begin with.
I'll definitely do it right. I've already found the interior wiring harness out of a 00 and the ecotec and 5 speed out of an 04. I'm glad you said something about the abs and the airbag module. I kind of figured something changed but wasn't really sure. I was gunna do the abs when I did the motor swap but I guess I'll have to do it all at once. Just need the money and free time. I'm guessing around $2500 and 2 months with the crazy hours I work. I guess I'm gunna have to get the girlfriend's "@!#$stang" running right so I have a doner car or better yet my 69 C Camaro. Hope gas price stays around $2.40 and don't jump after the election. Thanks for all. Really big help.
