Soundstream sub air space??
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:37 PM
I am considering building a new system for my car using Soundstream subs and amps with Focal mids and highs. I need to know what air space the Soundstream XXX15 sub requires. I am planning to run 4 XXX15s on 4 Soundstream XXX10000D amps. Iam also planning on using Focal 165K2P with the bass extention kit 165KBE on 2 Focal 2.150 amps. Head unit is a DEHP-780PRS Premier. The interior will have 2 layers of Dynamat Extreme everywhere. I am wondering if anyone has experience with any of this equipment and if it worth the money. thanks for any advice or input you may have.

I don't have any experience with any of those speakers or amps...The only suggestion I have is to use something other than Dynamat. RAAMmat or eDead will be just as effective (if not more so) and will cost much less. ED just came out with their eDead 80, which is 33% thicker than Dynamat Extreme and is still way cheaper.

If you're thinking about going that big, and that much wattage, asking us box size = epic fail.

I work offshore and dont have my program for calculating box size with me. I have tried Sounstream.com but it doesnt show any install info for those subs. This is not my first system and wont be the largest i have ever built. Thanks for any real help you can send my way.

Some of their amps have the same internals as the Lanzar Optidrive series. the 6500xxx and the 10000xxx do, i know that. Same as the 4000d and the 6000d. Not sure about the subs.

Thanks guys for positive useful input. I have contacted Grizz at Soundstream, when I get home I will be sending the actual useable measurements of the car with seat and interior panels removed and he is going to design the box for my builder for best possible sound. He also said that there may not be enough room to do all 4, may have to run with 3. Wont know anything for sure until I get home in January and get the measurements for him. Im hopeful for doing all 4 but 3 should do good as well. Again thanks guys.
