poly fill???

ok so i have my cvx's in small ass boxes with trim rings...i am getting new boxes made that will add another cubic foot. it will meet the requirements of the mounting depth and cubic measurements for the sub. my question is that if i do that, could i also stuff the box full of poly fill to make it even better or does poly fill not even work..and couldnt that @!#$ catch fire. and my subs cut off during parts of songs when i turn my gain up to much... i want the bass to sound good though..would adding a 2 farad capacitor keep the battery from draining so bad so that the voltage drops wouldn't be bad and my subs wouldn't cut off during songs. because that gets annoying but i want a lot of bass although i know most of the problem is the tiny boxes..

set your gain using an oscilloscope or multimeter and leave it there and it should never cut out. capacitors will help with the voltage drop (if there is one) to some extent but decrease the voltage after the load to recharge. poly fill on the other hand is usually used when the box is too small for the sub. it makes the sub thin the box is larger than it really is, its easier to just build the box to spec for the cvx's. oh and it will only catch on fire if you have the gain set so high that the sub is clipping insanely badly and isnt cooling properly.

ok well my gain is not turned up that high yet the subs still cut out...on the kicker zx 1500.1 it seems that the bass knob and gain knob only work when they are both turned up..i wanted to set the gain and turn bass boost off but no bass is produced at all when i do that... im not clipping but my bass sucks..i have 12 inch cvx's which rms at 750 wired at 2 ohms and the bass is poor. i hate having trim rings so im getting 2 boxes built to the right specs..i will reset my gain.. im adding a 2 farad cap for sure also..but the gain is the only thing that would make the subs cut off? im really confused about how both knobs work because if i turn the bass knob up and gain down, the subs still cut out its like they are both gains??? but how much poly fill should i put in there..should i just put it against the back of the box and just fluff it or stuff the hell out of it???

the bass boost probably has to be set at some level. id set it somewhere then set the gain and not move either of them again. the cap is a if you want it kinda thing (usually to impress the other kids in the high school parking lot), i have one and dont use it..... and i have no idea how much polyfill to use. maybe someone with some experience with it will know how much to use

Do you have a picture of the wiring of the subs? Are you sure its a 2ohm load going to the amp?
Also what headunit do you have? What are the pre-out voltage?

why are they wired for a 4 ohm load if you are running 2 2ohm DVC???

/facepalm. Homie, for real, quit posting the same questions over and over and over again.

Capacitors are to smooth out the wave for a cleaner wave. If your batteries/charging system are good, then they work great. Otherwise, it's constantly draining and refilling, making things even worse.

Polyfill is used to make a box seem bigger than it actually is. It makes the waves bounce all over the place, and absorbs some of the waves, hence the false illusion.

Have you tried setting the gain properly without the bass knob hooked up?

Take your system to a shop, please, and ask them these questions again and again and again and again. This is like the 8th post of you asking the same questions, and they have been answered.
