I have racked my brain over this for a year now and still can not figure it out. When it is colder than 45 outside my cd player in my car will not work. It will turn on when the car starts and it will have the Alpine logo scroll across the screen, then it just shuts off.
I bought it new this January and the GM door chime kit. Has anybody heard anything like this and if so what could I do to fix it. I have to travel every week and need to have tunes to listen too.
My alpine acts up too when it's cold out. When I press a button, the screen goes blank and the button that was pressed wasn't recognized. Gets annoying sometimes, but I just use my remote and then it isn't a problem. Both alpine decks I've had have done this.
I typically have to drive for 15 to 50 minutes, shut the car off and then restart the car to get it too turn on. If the car is off for anything after a half hour then i have redo the entire process
Huh that's weird, mine usually works after the car warms up after 5-10 minutes. Have you contacted Alpine about it? Cause they usually are interested in hearing these types of problems.
i will give that a shot, hopefully they can help me figure it out.
hmmm how about you take the face inside with you?? dont leave it in the car ....that should help
i will give that a shot, but i never had that problem with my pioneers or sony players.
well that did not work, any other suggestions
Ive got a pioneer cheapo deck work awsome, when its starting to get -15 outside, The face plate starts to act up. with the face display. Hasn't shut off. When the temp is above 0 it has no troubles. Could be the condensation on the cucurite board.
i have the 9885 looks the same as yours...i don't have this problem *knock on wood*....how cold dose your car get inside? i think it says some where on it like it can only be so cold or hot like a battery if it gets to hot it breaks..
larry- my car routinely see weather ranging from -10 to 100 Farenheit during the summer it works fine and dandy. I bought this new this spring and had a couple of days of it not working. now after the summer, and i am traveling a lot more this lack of music is starting to tick me off.
I had this problem with a pioneer years ago. I started taking the face plate off and taking it in doors at night and that worked for a while, then it started doing it either way, so i called pioneer, and they said it had to do with stuff in the radio being too cold to operate. maybe call alpine and see if they have any other coplaints about it, or just buy a cheapy radio from walmart or something .
