to make the sub think the box is bigger by absorbing the sound

but no normally people tend to put dacron or pillows in them... but anything like foam or somthing spongey that acts like an insulator works

asumming thats why you want to do it ??

It also gives the box some more mass, preventing resonating and funky tones. I've seen people do it instead of double baffling.

Immortals, or imortal as you would say, can not, nor will ever do the "rated" 2k rms. They have a 2 1/2 inch voice coil for starters, and due to thermal events and subs overstretching their excursion, they won't come close to their rated power. Huge amps are great, only if the rest of the system can handle it.

That chrome basket totally makes the sub hit harder, it's pretty much a proven fact.

I guess we're all behind the times here guys. I thought the goal of a system was to either get SPL or good quality, but I guess it's actually to ruin your hearing!

^^^Yes I couldn't hear out of my right ear for two days due to a combination of i believe an ear infection and my system. I just turned it down. Problem solved.

But he said he wanted to use it for a ported box. Doesn't the fluffy stuff only work for sealed boxes? Maybe I'm wrong.

I can't believe this topic has so many replies without the word Polyfill... because that is what the actual stuff is, that you use for that function.

While were on the subject... any recommendations on where to buy LARGE quantities of dynamat xtreme? Like maybe enough to line the entire inside of a hatchback including the roof?

I've used Dynamat xtreme multiple times before and I'm happy with it. I used 2 other brands (forgot which) that were supposedly non asphalt based and they @!#$ smelled like @!#$ for over a month after using them. I'm not gonna take peoples word anymore, I'm gonna stick with what I know and like.
