got some free speakers, are they good or bad?
Saturday, January 31, 2009 11:43 PM
Well,a neighbor of mine gave me some Crunch GTS5.2C component speakers(new in plastic in box) and i am curious as to if they are decent speakers and if i should put them in my car in place of the aftermarket 4x6s w/ tweeters wired in currently installed.I am not running an amp to my interior speakers(i have HiFonics Zeus 6x9s in rear deck),i just run the interiors off the Duel XDVD710 200watt multi-media HU.So someone with audio experience please tell me if the crunch component speakers are worth installing and if i will need an amp?.If i need an amp i do have an MTX 300watt 4channel amp that i got for free a few years ago that i could hook up.
thanks guys

probly still better than the 4x6's, but not sure what type of tweets ya got tho. and if the tweets that came with the crunch components suck just use the ones you got now. cant hurt to put them in and try it.

well the tweeters i have hooked up to the 4x6s are cheapo $20-30 tweeters i picked up on clearance at some liquidation sale a year or two ago.so they are prolly worse than the tweeters in the component set.I'll hook the component set probably on Monday but.......Will i need some kind of adapter plate to use 5.25 speakers in place of the 4x6s that are the factory size?

Yep, try to find em in mdf, avoid plastic. You could always make ur own but I find the $20 worth it

Crunch is in the same family under Maxxonics, they were the budget brand for the longest time. The new Crunch amps aren't too bad, speakers, well, they'll do pretty good. They're a good budget pair. Under the company is also Hifonics and Autotek.

any local car audio shop that sells radios and uses metra kits can order them for you.
