Ok here's what i got i bought a autostart remote start model number AS-2775 And the Directed Electronics 555L Bypass and me and my bro hooked everything up yesterday and my pass-lock wires are 2 black and one with a white stripe we used the one with a white stripe and it does work sometime and then it wont but on the bypass unit i cant figure where to put the Blue/Black (-) Status input and violet (-) Input From Starter Relay and my door locks wont work have hooked them up right but they run on (-) output i think i need relays to make them work and i did call directed electronics and they said that they cant tell me anything because i'm not a dealer or installer and that this kit should of not been sold to me so please any help would be appericated
o forgot it a 96 cavi with auto tranny 2.2l
the BLUE/Black input on the 555l, that goes to the Blue/black output on the harness of the autostart. I think it is the 2nd or 3rd wire from the end.
You will need to use a relay to acheive a neg start, as this remote start system does NOT have a neg start. Wire a relay to the starter wire on the remote starter.
Wire post #85 to the Purple Start wire on the starter
Wire post #86 to the Blue/Black wire from the remote starter (GROUND WHEN RUNNING)
Ground #30
Wire post #87 to the Purple - Starter input
Oh yeah, the reason DEI won't help you is exactly why they told you, they are there to help installers from Authorized dealers. IF they give you advice and you burn your car down, then what??
On things like remote starts and alarms, if you don't know how they work. Let a pro install them for ya.
Warranty kicks ass!
Yikes, be careful just tapping into wires without knowing what they are.
Go to the12volt.com and print out a wire color sheet.
(Your passlock wires will be 3 small gauge wires, found together. They are yellow, black and white.
Here is what you do with the wires on the 555L
Black/Yellow - Cut the yellow passlock wire, connect this to the side that is not going up to the steering wheel
Yellow - Goes to the other side (going up to the wheel)
Black/White - Goes to the bulb test light (Thin black wire in ignition plug.)
Black - Goes to the black passlock wire (from the 3 wires)
Blue-Black - 2nd ignition from remote starter brain (green on autostart, in the 6pin harness, just make sure the jumper is in the center)
Violet - Ground out while running from starter brain (white on autostart, in the 10pin harness)
Pink - Ignition from starter brain (yellow, 6pin)
Pink/White - <
>
Red - Fused, 12V. I go to red in the 6pin harness.
To learn the unit:
Start the car, let it run for at least 5 seconds.
Turn off the car
Remote start to test. The bypass LED should light or flash for the whole remote start process
Scratch blue/black from that.
I'm 90% sure you don't need to hook it up. It's just for there for old starters that don't have a 2nd ignition relay on board.
Leave it disconnected.
ok got ya on that anyone know about the door locks i have the wires hooked up to the right places and nothing
oh yeah almost forgot about the dome light supervision whats needed on my wiring schematic it says (+) POS. Door input
ok got you on the doors need to still know the dome light supervision and the horn honk please it say in my manual that the horn honk it use able on the 3 pin harness
You have to have the BLUE/BLACK hooked up on the 555l, It is the signal that tells the module to turn on.
NOT THE VIOLET WIRE!!! WTF??? 2nd ignition????? Where do you install? Remind me not to go there.
i highly suggest getting rid of the 555L bypass module and getting a pljx. If the 555l ever goes bad the car wont start and you will have to remove the 555l because the passlock runs through it opposed to the pljx where if it does go bad its just piggybacked on and the integrity of the factory wires isnt compromised.

Take it easy, I do primarily iDatalink bypasses, but I was confident when I was writing this.
I was going off of the DEI manual I have, which is riddled with typos. Thanks directed.
Blue/black = ground out while running (confirmed this with a couple other installers)
Violet = n/c
well tried all what was said and got the door locks to work but still having problems with pass lock it still wont work like i said i don't have yellow black and white all i have is 2 black and 1 black with a white and this wire on a test light glows very little anyone know how to solve this problem would be much appericated
o and also and i supposed to use a 2nd ignition
Trust me, they did not make your Cavalier with a different harness than everyone else. You are looking in the wrong spot.
This shows the PASSLOCK 2 wires (YELLOW, BLACK and WHITE) in the DARK GRAY or BLACK Plug at the bottom of the Steering Column.
This is another view of the PASSLOCK 2 wires, the YELLOW (+) or 1 to 6 Volts DC on a Volt/Ohm Meter, BLACK (-) and WHITE (WHITE wire is NOT USED!!. These wires are shown as they exit the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBER, go to a Plug and then change colors before the head under the drivers dash.
yeah i don't have that plug as pictured all i have is the three wires and those wires exit the tumbler and go straight up to the cluster it looks like
Oh yeah, you have a 96 Cav with PASSLOCK 1
This picture shows the PASSLOCK 1 wires, the YELLOW (+) or will show 1 to 6 Volts DC on a Volt/Ohm Meter) BLACK (-) and WHITE (WHITE wire is NOT USED!!). These wires are shown as they leave the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER under the Steering Column of the vehicle.
This is another view from a different angle that shows the PASSLOCK 1 wires, the YELLOW (+) or will show 1 to 6 Volts DC on a Volt/Ohm Meter) BLACK (-) and WHITE (WHITE wire is NOT USED!!). These wires are shown as they leave the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER under the Steering Column of the vehicle.
yeah i got those pics and again my are black with white strip and 2 black im stumped here with the module hooked up it runs stall and flashes 5 times them goes solid mabey the 555l needs reset
Hook up a Digital Multi Meter to the wires, Find the wire that is 1-6volts, then find the ground. Should be all good.
Also, did you hook up the black/white wire from the 555L to the Bulb Check wire in the ignition harness?? Also the purple neg 12volt starter wire for the 555L:?
yes on the bulb check and yes on the negative start i guess i need to get a multi meter
I've got a problem with the 12 volt wiring sometimes, specially with our cars. Depending on your year of car, you may need 3 ignition wires hooked up, plus the accessory, starter, and constant.
stupid question but i never used a multi meter how do i know i got the right wire and what setting should it be on
Take it to a shop to get it installed.
