Same exact thing is happening with me... Do you have 9007 or 9005/9006 bulbs?
9005/9006 you have any clue on what is wrong

check the wiring harness under the battery tray.
Have you checked the socket with a meter yet?
the socket under that battery tray?

check the socket itself to ensure what kind of voltage you are getting as Lanman suggested.
under the battery tray is a wiring harness that goes to crap sometimes, check it to see if it is all corroded.
alright ill check tmrw thanks

three grounds? One is hot constant, one is ground when the switch is on. Technically each side has 2 hots, and 2 ground when switch is on high or low.
yeah look at the harness that runs just next to/under the battery tray. the battery will leak acid and it will take that harness apart real fast. this happens often on certain year j-bodys. i saw one at my shop recently and the replacement harness is 2 grand, so the tech had to just cut a whole connector out and hard wire the two harnesses together.
if the harness looks ok, then it's possible that the DRL relay is sticking in the activated position, or maybe the contact just lost it's contact surface. if it's not switching the circuit correctly when it's supposed to be deactivated, then it will apply ground to both sides of the left side high beam circuits. you should look for your drl relay and find another 5 post relay that looks like it, plug it in and see what happens. aside from that and the multifunction switch there are no moving parts except the multifunction switch, but if that was bad then both bulbs would be out.
ps, if your DRL bulbs work, and it probably has to be in drive to activate them, then that tells you that your bulb, socket and wiring to the socket are ok. it's possible that the control for the drl relay is shorted to ground though if the relay itself isnt bad but they DRLs work.
looked at all them

if the fuses are good, and you've replaced the bulb then i think it's time to get into some electrical diagnostics. i agree with lanman-go to the socket and use a meter to check power/ground on the bulb contacts. you should have ground on the pink wire contact and 12v on the dark blue wire contact. if you dont have power on the dark blue wire then that tells you that your problem is either the fuse, the drl relay, the signal to the drl relay being grounded, or the wiring somewhere in the middle. check that and let us know what you find-from there either myself or someone else can help you narrow down the possible problems.
alright ill check that out this week
