I spent about 3 hours reading all the searches and I'm still dumb-founded.
i just recently bought an 01 z24 has the factory radio in it. I have a Pioneer DEH-5800 ( i think that is the correct model)... bought it off my friend for $20.
I have no idea what type of wiring harness I need...I don't care about the chimes and all that nonsense...I know i need the GM adapter and the head unit adapter kit so theres not a huge gaping hole in my dash... i can get that easily.
i am having my friend show me how to install the unit... i just need guidance as to which harness i need and where i can get it from at the lowest price
yea thats teh right one...and teh kit should be
this one..
You can pick up the harness of ebay for 6-7, or Advanced or AutoZone should have it for 8-10. If there is not one close by check out any shop that sells car audio. Also don't let them tell you it won't work it will. If you don't want the chimes just make sure the harness is for a 00-01 Metro
okay cool.
just got paid today
put half of my whole $132 paycheck ( woohoo...dont you love working for minimum wage on a bi-weekly paycheck) away in my "car reserve" jar.

wow.....i made more before lunch today than you did in 2 weeks......that IS rough.
yeah well it sucks being 17 years old in this crappy economy hard to find a good paying job really
I now have a new found love for change.
I just figured that the antenna adapter, wiring harness, and dash-kit would run me about $45-$50 bucks
and I just counted $40 in change from my room =]
keep the change boys, it'll add up and one day you'll be thankful
I think I have about 40 bucks in change in my car haha
I work at an auto shop getting less than you bro. 8 hours a week blows. I'm getting a job at Advanced Auto Parts hopefully
30 hrs a week at Kroger and I'm 17. Just had to convince my manager I deserved the hours. Ill be picking up 40 a week over the summer.
haha yeah i gotta look for better jobs
Going off topic but
Get out of minimum wage. Try getting a job at a garage or an install bay or something car related if you're interested in that kind of thing. There is MUCH better money to be made at your age.
If you're not scared of labour go for that. When I was 14 I remember minimum wage was like $6.90 CDN and I was making something like $13.50, but that was like 7 years ago. I worked for that company until I was 20, I would get paid overtime after 8 hrs a day, irregardless if I made 40 hours for the week, but I would anwyays. I got a car allowance for using my car of $0.50/km. One summer (4 months) I made almost 20k before taxes. Labour FTW - it was a moving company btw
