im looking at swapping my crappy 4X6's for 6.5's so im just wondering how much room there is for mounting?

here are some specs on the speakers im looking at:

Midrange Mounting Depth: 3.080"
Midrange Mounting Diameter: 5.700"
Midrange Overall Diameter: 6.75"
Crossover Height: 4.938"
Crossover Width: 3.563"
Crossover Depth: 1.125"
Tweeter Mounting Depth: 1.78"
Tweeter Overall Diameter:1.725"

What speakers are you putting in that have over 3 inch mounting depth?!?!? holy @!#$.

lol well i was planning on getting the Elemental Designs e9.65i System.

if theres 3.5" from the glass to the plastic would i have enough room to mount these?that should leave me with almost .5" to spare correct? but i dont want the window itself to be an issue..

If you mount to the plastic door panel, you want to make sure you have a baffle from the plastic panel to the sheet metal door frame. it needs to be rigid. the panel itself isn;t going to support the driver, and it is going to sound @!#$ty that way also.

I mounted some polk momo's comp in my front doors. I finally realized that it wasn't the window that was the problem....is was the fact that the speaker basket wouldn't fit in the factory space...so I ended up cutting sheet metal. But my speakers have a 3" mounting depth..nothing more. You aren't gaining anything with a deeper speaker. The two front 6.5's are all I have and they put out bass just fine for the everyday.
