sounds like a deck or cable problem.

Try it with someone elses ipod to verify, see if the same thing happens.

try someone with a 5th gen iPod. I know with Kenwood decks that older iPods needed an IP500, then on the older 1 run USB Kenwood Decks you need an IP200 adaptor, now you can use you iPod cable that you use at home with Newer Kenwood decks.

Check in the Manual, more than likely your iPod is not compatable, or it needs to be undated with the newest version of the software available. If you can't find your manual, look on the net for a copy to Download.

i'll check and see if anyone ik has a 5th gen, but my ipod software is up to date according to ITunes and my the manual for my radio has absolutely no trouble shooting for the ipod feature, but i'll DL the manual and see if its any differant than the piece of @!#$ that they call a manual that i got w/ the HU

well i looked at the owners manual online for my HU and it seems that my Ipod software(despite being the most up to date version avalable) isn't compatible w/ the HU,because apparently my HU is only compatible w/ the software versions that were out when my HU was put out.so i'm kinda pissed cause ipod use was one of the reasons i bought it in the first place(along w/ dvd playback and all the other features)

yeah i can do that as the radio came w/ a aux input port and stereo headphone line but,so it'd work but i wanted to be able to use the touch screen of the HU to controll my ipod as it says on the box.

Meh if its anything like any of the other interfaces Ive seen and used the control through the head sucks cause you cant scroll fast enough. My friends JVC gets annoying because you can only go one song at a time so long playlist are horrible

It is all a SCAM by Apple, they make changes to the ipod so much that it almost forces people to go out and buy new stuff all the time, there software updates they make seem intentional so that your iPod will ONLY work with Apple products.

iPod to me is abunch of HYPE! I bought an 8gb Sony Walkman Video from ABC warehouse, it was $79. 2.3" screen. All I do when I want to use it is plug it in to my Kenwood with the cable it came with and BOOM, it works. No guidelines on what can and can't be loaded to it. It uses WMA, MP3 MP4 for video and everyting in between. Best thing is I can upload ANY song to it, no iTunes involved.

Sorry for the rant, iPod makers are getting RICH for what???? You can get equal quality for A LOT Less.

The iTouch is pretty damn cool, but is an entire different animal.

Sell your iPod and get a Walkman. You'll like it.

I used to buy ipod after ipod for years, through high school I had 5 diferent ones because they kept breaking, got stolen or a new one came out every few months. Then I just gave up and went with a zune from microsoft and they seem to work better. easier to use and really reliable plus it works with all my other microsoft stuff like my laptop and xbox all wirelessly, you dont even have to plug it in to upload content and you can have everything a ipod can, movies, music, pictures, podcasts, it also comes with a built in radio. And another good thing is it seems to compress things better like you can fit way more onto a 8gb zune than a 8gb ipod. CHECK EM OUT theres way more reasons why their better, their touch too BTW.

Just cause you can fit more on doesnt make it better. Im sure if you compressed your files down to 15 kbps you could fit a lot on but its going to sound like ass.

I like my iPod just because of how common it is. They also have very good customer service. I broke mine the second week I had it. Sent it out and got a new one in 5 days. Then the battery went out in my next one because I left it in a hot car which is hell on batteries and they charged me 20 for a new battery and sent me a new iPod.

I do agree that there really isnt any advantage to buying a new iPod every time one comes out. Between mine and my friends iPod from 4 years ago there isnt really a huge difference besides the display.
