ive notice on my cusions that it was a simple fix the rattle he had it turned out to be the release cable and wire harness in the trunk for the power latch just hitting back and forth in the lid.just wrapped in foam and his was gone. may or not be you exact issue but may help quite it down.
Theres a vent in the trunk that is god awfully loud.

true worth a look but judging by his pic he would most likely have the vent in the door jamb the newer models had the vent move to the trunk.
my 99 had the vent in the trunk as well

that it is how did you cure that? i dont wanna weld a new plate in if that will cause any complications, last 95-99 cavy i saw had the vent in the opposite side of the trunk although i could be wrong

no its not the vent I fixed that, its the 2 marks i put arrow on, because when I press down on them the rattling stops

well put some dynamat on it...
If there is a way you can check it from the inside, check to see if its the actual hinges for the trunk lid; that is the only thing I can think of. On my car the heat shield between the exhaust and gas tank was the reason for rattle in my car. Stupid Rivets!

Well I tried Dynamat but I had issue trying to get it to stick to thbody because of the tightness. So I used duct tape.
i have dynomat as you saw in original post

dude, its your torsion bar inside the trunk. positive, one hundred percent.
torsion bar was fixed, it use to vibrate until I added a bit of cushion in there to stop then from hitting the other
