Also need Amp Help

Hey all, I'm sorry I'm a noob when it comes to car audio but I need some help.

Ok, I have a Rockford Fosgate 12" P3 set for 2 ohms inside of a ported box powered by a JL Audio 500/1 Mono amp. My problem is, when i turn the volume or bass up it cuts the bass out. all of my connections are good but it is driving me crazy. Could it be the subwoofer disabling it's self to not "blow up"? Or is there something on the amp or my head unit i can mess with to get it to stop? My head unit is a Pioneer, Not sure on the model but it has a built in equalizer and all of that good stuff.Any help is very helpful!

Check to see if the amp is going into protect, it might not be getting enough voltage to keep it stable.

Make sure all your levels are set to zero on your head. Im not sure what model of Pioneer you have. Mines a few years old but theyre close enough to each other. You may have these levels set too high and its causing the amp to go into protection to keep you from clipping your signal and killing your sub. One of my amps did that.

My Pioneer is set as such:
Bass 0
EQ-L: 0
50: 0
Q-Factor 40:2W I used to have it 80:2W for my 12s and tens. ( On mine yo get to the Q-Factor by holding the Audio button. and you cycle through with the audio button until you find 80:2N the adjust it.)

Try that along with checking grounds etc unless you already have.

if you are truly giving that 500/1 a 2ohm total load you aren't straining it. Those slash amps are stable down to 1.5 ohms. It sure does sound like you have some settings set wrong. As TheSundownSunfire said, make sure all your head unit settings are disabled or flat, then start adjusting at the amp. Post up a pic of the controls and inputs on your amp. I could help you set it up a little over the net. Not the best way to help, but the best any of us can do online.

I think it's the settings because when I was messing with them last night and it would stay on with some things low & then turn off when others high so I'll set them all down and see if that works & i will get that picture tonight . Thanks everyone!
