Hello everyone,
I am working on a design project and i need to know the size of the 1/0 gauge wire, the diameter with the insulation on the outside. or if someone knows where i can find this information that would be great. but the easiest way i thought of finding this info was to post it on here knowing that there are many people with 1/0 gauge wire in there car. so if a couple of you could get me the outside diameter of the wire and what brand the wire is that would be very helpfull.
The only table i found on the diameter was from the wire itself, i want it with the outter insulation casing.
Thank you all very much

Curious minds want to know...
Id say your best bet is to post this on SMD. More guys there are running 1/0 than here.
i posted it on ssa but i havnt checked it yet.
and when im done with the project ill post up what im doing. not untill then though.
its a project for school tho

all of it varies from my experiences.
Kicker is some thick crap, and that welding wire i used is seemingly just a bit bigger that 2 gauge, but pure copper...
im going to try to contact some compinies like kicker, jl, rockford tomarrow and try to get there diameters. is there any other popular company for 1/0 gauge wire?
Thanks Again

Welding wire. We love it, it's cheap, high strand count, and flexible.
Contact individual companies. Every one will be different. 1 Rockford 1/0 wire, for example, is probably about the same size as two Scosche 1/0 wires
i have stinger HPM, kicker, enetic, and welding wire just no caliper thingy to measure it.
I just ordered some off of knukonceptz and it is 16mm which is about .63 inches in diameter, with the insulation.

^^what they said, get it from knukonceptz

Which one? Did you get the copper clad aluminum?
copper clad aluminum, now that you mention it is there something wrong with getting that kind?
David
Ah I see where the problem could be with the copper clad aluminum. After doing some research on it, it has a higher resistance as opposed to pure copper. I didnt even know that they had copper clad wire, now I know why the wire was so cheap for 1/0 gauge, lol. Oh well you live and you learn hopefully using it wont cause big problems since my system wont be super power hungry
CCA is bad. Aluminum is banned in houses because it heats up, becomes brittle, then breaks. This causes a short which sparks melting the insulation and catching fire!
I have Monster Cable 1/0 100% copper. 25 ft for $66 on eBay
ya get the knukonceptz 1/0 fleks, good @!#$
