Hello, So yesterday I installed my amp and subs in my car and it worked great for 2 days. All of a sudden the amp just stopped turning on. Here is what I have tried so far:
1) checked ground...it was fine
2) got out my multimeter and checked to see if the amp was getting power and it was...it read 12.86 volts.
3) thought that it might be that the amp was blown so I used the power wire and connected it to both the remote connection and the power connection on the amp and then the amp turned on so the amp isn't blown.
4) checked the connection at both ends of the remote wire and it is done up tight.
Any ideas? I can't think of anything else that could be causing this... Thanks!
Did you have the gain all the way up? What kind of amp?
did you check to see if there's any power at the amp's remote when the deck is turned on? the deck's remote turn on could be toast, or there could be a short in the remote wire itself somewhere between the deck and the amp.
with the amp's remote hooked to your power wire, did it play music? or did it simply turn on?

It played music...i tried running a completely new wire from the amp remote to the wire coming out of the back of the deck but it still didn't work.
Check and see if you have 12 volts coming from the remote turn on wire.
I only have 3.3 volts coming out of it.
Head unit. You should have 12 volts.
any ideas of what I should do then?
You could get a new deck,
Or you can run a wire from the fuse box that's 12 volts, and turns on with the key. and then connect it to your amp.

Don't even bother with the fuse box. Just go behind your deck and, instead of tying onto blue/white, tie onto red.
did you check the rcas?
also you should try to run a quick wire from the power to the remote on the amp to see if thats the problem. i dont suggest this for a permanent solution but it could try to tell you if thats the propblem or not.
