So far I have 2 gauge wire run from the battery to a distribution block that has 4 gauge outputs at the amp rack, which is going to be located behind the extended cab seats, never to be seen again (well, until more upgrades arise). I upgraded the "big 3" using 2 gauge power wire, a 200amp breaker, and 4 gauge grounds. I also made the amp rack out of 1/4" particle board.
I'm sticking with the stock head unit for now, thinking about a CarPC for the future, The subs are the main priority at the moment and the interiors will be coming soon.
For subs I have a pair of Audiobahn 10" DUBs rated at 600RMS
Amps are two Kenwood KAC-8152D's running at 550RMS x 1
and one Kenwood KAC-X541 rated at 124RMS x 4
I do have a Diamond audio component set as well which will eventually be replacing the stock fronts.
I used wood I had laying around
Altho you won't be able to see the amps I wanted it to have a more finished look when I have to get back there, so I dragged an interior panel into Joanne's Fabric and found a vinyl that looks quite like the same color tan.
I'm not going ape @!#$ on the dynamat but I do have some laying around, not too sure if its going to cooperate being that its been rolled in its box for over 6-7 years but if not, I'm not worried. I figured I would lay it on the floor under the carpet where the subthump box will be firing the subs.
I test fit with the seats back in position, not good.
The child restraint system that is built into the seats have these arches that I had to remove.
I installed T-nuts in the back of the rack mounting the amps
Then I wrapped it in the tan vinyl
Yup, I know I'm missing a screw, apparently some other lowes customer felt that they needed one of the screws from the bags I bought more than I did... and I didn't notice it.
I was over looking the Kenwood speaker level input and they stated that they are rated for a max of 40watts. I couldn't find out if they were 40MAX or 40RMS, then I couldn't find the output of the BOSE amp so I said to hell with it and ordered the PAC GM unit. This way I will have the interior speakers done as well and all will sound good and loud! woot!
Anyway, here are some more pix
I wanted to keep the truck looking relatively stock so I put the tweeters in stock locations. After I took the pix I "glued" them in with silicone. I wanted something that wasn't completely permanent but a good hold. We will see how that werks. Werst comes to werst I will do something else later on.
It seems to be tradition to take comparison pix of the stock speakers versus the new so here we go. I thought originally people weren't taking the stocks out of the harnesses but the harnesses are actually part of the speaker! WOOOOOOOW!
stock
Diamond
And the mess which is my werk space, but now cleaned up.
so at the end of the night, both component systems were installed. So now I gotta install the amp rack, rear speakers, wait for the PAC unit and pray all the outputs werk correctly. Then order the subbox and install the dynamat. Then done till the NX509 comes down to a more reasonable price.
Very nice. It must be the lack of sleep I thought the entire thread was about a Cav and I kept getting more and more confused until the last picture.
Keep it up.
lol, cause "silverado stereo system upgrade" didn't give it away? hahahahah! you must be tired!
Schools killing me. Cant wait to be out in a week.
Great work man, it's a shame to put in some decent components, decent enough amps, and such a nice clean install and then ruin it with audiobahn
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

ha, as much as I agree with you, I need subs that are less than 5.75 inches tall and these are only 5 inches tall and I got the pair of them off ebay for $42 so I really couldn't pass it up. Eventually I will upgrade them but for now they will do.
thanks for the compliments tho!
man, I am beat. I haven't gotten the amp rack in but I did run the wiring for the rear speakers and installed the rear speakers. I've been at it since 0930. Its 1630 now.
I just wanna vent for a minute here. I had to do a resonator change in a 01 grand prix. This isn't a very accessible item, Advanced had one 30 minutes away, car quest had one 15 minutes away. So I go to car quest, purchase it, the gasket and a exhaust clamp. Come home, tear off the stock resonator, and if you ever did any exhaust werk, you know just how annoying the rusted bolts are.... I pull it out and its the wrong one. I go back to car quest, with both.
"Oh, thats a Midas resonator"
I ignore him, "get me the right one"
He looks it up again, and insists that its the correct one and that I have a Midas resonator.
Then I look at him, "Its the stock resonator!"
"Oh.... ummm.... did you have to cut it? Cause thats a different one and we don't have that one."
"What? that doesn't even make sense, whatever, give me my money back and I'm going elsewhere."
So I get my money back and drive to Advanced where the other resonator is. The girl behind the counter is cute so I ignore the fact that she has no idea whats going on. I get the stuff I needed and go to pay..... or so I thought.... My card is at car quest, the guy forgot to give it to me and I was so annoyed with everything that I forgot to ask for it! NOOOOOOOOO! I call over there and they give me the card number, the guys at Advanced were nice enough to let me pay using it cause I gave them my sob story. THANK GAWD!
I get home, go to install it, its still too short! At this point I'm about to kill someone! I go to Autozone thats down the street and get a piece of pipe and another clamp, bolt it all up and call the owner. Car is done. Didn't get done till about 1300. I was annoyed, if I had everything it would have been a two hour job, tops! UGH!
So back to my truck, which also requires a bit of venting cause I am really getting annoyed with GM's idea of panel clips! I have broken two of them! Its really beginning to annoy me. I was also trying to be careful, pulling the panel just slightly, then sliding a thin long flathead screw driver behind the panel to disengage the metal clip, SNAP! NOOOOOOOOO! At least it was where they "glued" another bracket and on that bracket is where the clip was, so I JB welded that sucker back together. Hopefully it holds!
I'm tellin ya, it sucks that I gave up alcohol this month cause I could really use a beer! Or some crown and coke! Oh well, I guess I will settle for some Hawiian Punch without alcohol! lol
Anyway, just a quick snap shot of the subs, kinda lame but the deal of the century at $42 for the pair. The depth and enclosure requirements are perfect for the subthump box.
So I did get to install the rear speakers and run the wiring, if you run new wiring as I did, you are going to want to disconnect the speaker and window controls from inside the cab, then push the rubber hose out and pull the wiring thru the hole with it. This way you can shove a snake up the rubber with a straight shot Trust me, I tried it the other way, holy crap its a pain! hahahahaha!
Now, just so happens that I have 4x6 diamond audio coaxial speakers from another car and it just so happens that these fit perfectly. If you also notice, the rear stock bose speakers have a much larger magnet than the fronts! HUUUUUUGE difference!
So that's it for now! I wanted that amp rack in but it just wasn't in the cards after that whole fiasko with the grand prix.
Im ridin spinners im ridin spinners they dont stop.
Haha all I could think about when I saw those subs was Three Six Mafia.
hahahahahahah...... awwwwwww...... uber lame! hahahahahaha! Good thing I didn't have the grills on em when I took the pix, eh? I'm really glad they will be firing into the floor and you won't see them. hahahahaha
and I have all of Three6 Mafia along with all their side projects, lol
That speaker wire is nothin, Im rocking 8 gauge. Haha. Thats overkill.
I'm sure neither of you are benefiting at all from your overkill on the speaker wire... but hey, it's your money not mine.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I had 8 gauge laying around. Its not hurting me any.
