Hey guys, I've been looking at the RE Audio 12" xxx subwoofer to replace my JL 12w7. I'll most likely put it in my Jl High Output ported box. Just would like to hear everybody's opinion on it. It has almost double the xmax as my w7 and double the rms. Do you think I should swap?

All I have to say is I have an RE SR12D2 and it has probably been the best sub I have ever owned. Everyone will probably tell you that you need a box built for that sub though.

but ive seen some crazy vids of these things. cant hurt ot try. and yes you should build a box to its specs to get the most out of it.

If you have the money for it, go for it. You won't have any regrets. The main thing, as said earlier, is making sure you get it in the right box. That sub will perform amazingly. I watched a friend of mine hit 156.3 on a termlab with a single 12" XXX. Really though, with a company like RE, no matter what you get, it's going to perform well. They are one of the few companies out there that I could say I would install anything from their product line into my own car.
1.5" MDF would be just fine

i was thinking the same thing. thats some pretty high numbers for 1 12 on a TL
but maybe the mic was right next to the subwoofer?

Wysiwig hit 151 with 2 on 2500 watts on a wall.
I'll see if I can find the results from the competition. It was in a Metro running off an American Bass VFL400.1.
Let me know the next competition for that.
since vernon is an AB competitor im willing to bet he was running AB subs as well. theXXX is a low end monster output tapers off quickly though. dont expect much output above 60 hz.
Wait, didn't Wysiwig buy those XXX's off of you Nate or was it going to be the other way around? I know you had some DD's.

Normally he does, but he did give the XXX a try. It sticks out in my mind because I was looking at moving to the XXX from the Diamond D9 at the time, and someone told me he was running it and I happened to catch it at that competition. I think it was something along the lines of he was waiting on Bob to get him some new subs at the time, but wanted to still compete that weekend so he went with the XXX.

he bought mine. I do has some DDs now I just need a vessel to put them in. got some DD 1508s for the daily as well lol.
Im really surprised he could put that number up with the XXX they do not tend to meter well but they are absolute monsters on the low end.
If you are trying to get louder on a whole spectrum and still sound pretty good do one Digital Designs 3512. Will walk all over both of them. Or you could do a 9512 if you got a lot of power to play with.
same exact install same box and everything my DDs walked the XXXs to the park and let them play on the swings.
i got the 3512 and im quite happy with it. i just bought an orion 2500d to play with and i was bout to go to a comp but i totalled the car

if you wanna run that 2500d make sure you ahve a very good source of power behind it or it wont perform as well as it should
a buddy is running 4 18" re mt's off one 2500d at a .7 load and it is INSANE!! but he also has 6 batteries strapped together lol
if your gonna use the 2500 d on just one 3512 be very careful you dont blow it
Thats a waste of MTs. He would be better off with one per woofer. I might know someone who has 4 of them for 4 DDs
meh he is doing a 153 at 32 htz so its not that bad, in a blazer
