Magnet on Fi Q12 ... split?
Monday, June 08, 2009 1:05 PM
I have had a Fi Q12 for about a year now. Recently I noticed it was making strange sounds so I thought to myself "Oh great, another blown voice coil". Check the impedance, it was good. So I pulled the sub out of the box, smelled for burnt in the VC area, nothing. I noticed that one of the two magnets had a crack all the way around. I'm no subwooferologist, but that's @!#$. I know that even if my setup was all wrong, the magnet wouldn't be the thing to go. What would cause this? I never dropped the woofer. It's just been sitting in my car in a sealed box running fine until recently.

It's under a year but I'm not sure on the receipt... I'll have to check into it. I'll jump over to SSA and check my post there I almost forgot I signed up and asked for help there haha. Thanks for reminding me
