So basically it has a 7 in indash flip out Jensen DVD player that is hooked to another 9 in flip down in the rear that came with the car. He traded his Camaro for this so he moved the 15 Type R over and hooked that up. Today we were cruising testing out the truck etc and out of nowhere all 6 speakers stop simultaniously but the sub stayed on and played at a normal volume. The speakers are all using the stock harness. We get it back to his house disassemble the dash and find that the wiring is about the same as the 20s its sitting on, pretty ghetto. Its a rats nest. So we go to work checking everything the best we can and to no avail. Nothing seems to be unhooked. We went inside and had some lunch and to discuss our plan of action for fixing this and came back out. I turn the truck on and all of the speakers work. Im completely dumfounded. I cycled the ignition a few times previously and nothing changed. The head unit was warm when I pulled it out so all I can think is some kind of thermal overload but it seems strange that it would just cut the speakers. Either this or the deck is crap. The Bravada sat for 3 or 4 years previous so maybe the heads going to crap. Im just really confused by this. Any ideas out there? Its working for now but Im feeling itll happen again.
maybe cuz its a jensen....but im no expert
Pretty much what I was thinking.
i had a bravada and it really sucked because there is no aftermarket wiring harness or dash kit for it. it didnt even fit a single din cd player.
if i had to guess it was a short in a speaker. + - touched each other.

I would put all my money on a blown speaker or shorted speaker wires.
If a speaker shorts as a result of a fudge'd coil, it'll trip the deck's protection circuit. The RCA's going out to the sub will keep playing, because the protection circuit is built into the deck's on-board amplifier.
It could also be wires shorting out where you spliced them together behind the deck, or somewhere between there and the speakers.

I'll put all my money onto brad's money too.
Back from my 11 day hiatus and the head is going to my car because he got fed up with it.
Being that Im using all amps and no stock speaker leads I should be just fine

Oh ya it wasnt the head unit. His new Alpine Unit started kicking protection and I caught a clicking coming out of the left rer door and sure enough the expertly installed speaker had fallen out and was shorting on the door.
And yes you can get mounting kits because theres one on the floor of my car and no the dash is not different between Blazers and Bravadas because the installation is the same between the two.

ill look on my parents computer to see if i have pics. i know it was my first real install but i still had to trim the dash just alittle bit to fit the single din in there. and this was a while ago like 4 years so maybe now they have kits but the guy at best buy told me there was no install kit and no wireing harness for it. he even looked it up on the computer. maybe he was a retard and back then i believed the people at best buy knew what they were doing but all i know is that i had to make a mouting kit from plexi glass and i had to trim the dash a little to fit it in. sorry if i was being a jerk or anything its just what ive experienced.

1999 bravada dash^^^^^^^^
1999 blazer dash^^^^^^^^^^
as you can see the opening for the radio is alittle smaller on the bravada. now that doesnt exactly mean that there isnt any dash kits for them or wiring kits but it does mean that i had to trim it to fit it. and when i go back home ill snap pics of the bravada its self. my gramma drives it now but the stock radio is back in there.
ad my bad the dash isnt completely different just the hole for the radio is. and the stock radio itself is different.

There was no trimming done to fit the DVD and it is a single din so maybe it was just your radio was large.
It was in a Metrakit I believe and in the installation guides there is no Bravada under Oldsmobile. Its says Blazer/Bravada under the Chevy area. I found that strange but hell its the same thing.
Anton those bezels are identical....

In those pictures the Bravada one actually looks LARGER to my eyes... But anyway, you owned one, I didn't. I just don't think GM would have used 2 different molds that were only different by 1/8" in the radio opening. That would be a big waste of money.

Are you guys serious?
It is just like a 95-99 Cavalier Dash and a 00-05 Dash
The older ones had 1.5 din and the newer ones had what fits a double din but what is referred to as a GM2000 size Radio.
The Dash kit for MOST Double Din Olds Dashes wether it be a Aurora, Intrigue or the Bravada uses a Metra 99-2001 or a 99-2003 just like the 00+ J-bodies
The thing is that Buick and Olds used Double Din sized radios as far back as 95 or so. The Bravada used a Doubld Din I think as early as 1999, Blazers and Jimmys did not until 2002.
Best Buy Cracks me up. They told a guy with an Isuzu Hombre that there was NO KIT or harness for his truck, It is a Damn S-10!!! So I sold him the parts he needed instead.
I hate when people do @!#$ like that. Their little helper computer system should tell them that an Hombre, S-10 and Sonoma will all take the same kit. But don't mess with a non-certified stereo salesperson at BB, they must know everything.

Most places Ive been to dont know anything. ABC Warehouse said you cant fit a 15 in a Camaro. Well 6 weeks later we had one. I can go into most stereo places and have more knowledge than most people and I dont know that much.
Im the one with the Bravada. So now im having trouble with the back 9in screen. We took it down today and there are 3 wires power ground and remote, remote and power are spliced together and we discovered these 3 wires run only the dome light built in the unit. It also has a component video cable running to it. Once we pulled the screen out we noticed that this cable was all taped up, so i untaped it and dound that all the wires were exposed, the power and ground has the insulation stripped off in the middle and I have no idea what thats for. I cant get the unit to turn on anymore and I have no idea where its getting its power from.
