i got 2 15s and im gonna build another box for them. my last box was a half wall...but im tired of having no back seat, so i wanna build one for the trunk. the subs are jbl w15gti. question is how big of a box could fit in the trunk of a cavy and what would the specs be?
30.25x18x17 is what I had. It was a mother but to get in but its removeable but im sure you could go larger.
36x32x15. 8.2 cubes before port and sub, 7.2 after.

No sir. Had to yank the seats and center console.
that crazy....would it fit in a 4door without cutting
its pretty big.....but not big enough for the subs i got...thx tho
I didnt think it would be
lanman your setup looks awesome....gives me a good idea how to build it, where should i have the port firing (into the cabin?) thx for the help
negative, it would make it like a quasi bandpass. It rocked, but I also had some cancellation. Hence the new build.
Port to the rear. It would be like my new box just bigger.
are you dead set on running two 15s?
not easy to get proper box volume, port area or firing directions in our small trunks. single 15 setups can do pretty well in our cars.

well i already got 2 of them....so mind as well right?
I hopes you like cutting and hacking.
if thats what it takes, i dont mind

i dont think thats good for the car....i think you need support there
Ya im not a big fan of removing structural rigidity from my unibody but by all means try it out for yourself.

if your 15s do best in large boxes, you may find that you can get louder and lower running a single 15 in a good box than a pair in a sub-optimal install. I have no experience with those subs, so I really have no idea if that's the case or not, but with our trunk openings only ~36" wide, you don't have much space to work with. I've found it to be a bitch getting enough port area when firing 2-15s and the port either forward or backward. hence why I asked my question.
running a single 15 makes it much easier to build boxes, as you have many options for firing direction and have alot of room for proper port area. and when firing to the rear, you get the advantage of better airflow with a smaller box taking up trunk space. may not be all that noticeable to the ear, but it is to the meter.
just my experience, all learned the hard way LOL!

i didnt have to cut any metal. i just cut holes in the carpet part of the rear dash, set the 6x9's on top and tighten them down with some self tapping screws.
