Looking for High Excursion Sub
Thursday, July 23, 2009 9:39 PM
Im looking for something more than my Type-R. I want to stay with 1 15". Im look for something high excursion that will take around 2000 RMS. Ive looked at Ascendant Audio, Fi, DD, etc. Im not too savy on brands so anyone have anything I may have missed.

Edit: Hell anything between 1500 ans 2000 watts. Ill overpower it a bit.

BL is 1kwrms without options.
When they are fully loaded, they can take 1400-1600wrms give or take.

definatly get an fi BL or BTL or look into the Audio Que HDC3 line of subs. But im throwing around 1500-1600 on my BL daily and its holding up just fine. wouldnt recomend going much higher than that though. she gets a little warm on 20-120 hz sweeps. and thats only if you do like 2-3 in a row.

BTL would be the best i would think.
then you could throw 3 sundown 1000's on it and still be good.

or like a ssa xcon ive heard good things about them. i think they have like 31 mm of xmax one way so its 3 mm better than the btl

Now have you heard them, or are you just being a fanboy because everyone's up on them this week?

What is with the 40 hz response on the Opti? I like burping notes lower than that.

Ill keep looking around. Right now im in the planning stages. Idk if the money wil be available soon for this though.

If you look it's more for an SPL tune. You'll be fine if you tune it in the 30s.

My personal advice would be to go to Caraudioclassifieds.com and ask. TONS of VERY knowledgable people on there in this aspect.

Ok will do sir. Maybe I can find something good and used.

I know you guys hate it but im probably going to go for more of a 28 hz tune. I kinda miss the 22 hz bastard on the lows.

i wouldnt run any of those woofers then. You arent really going to get anything out of a low tune like that sorry.

Pretty much. It would be louder too. More air displacement.

well i would go with the Fi BTL or the SSA Xcon

xcon from what ive read is more for sound quality than the BTL but still gets loud enough.

I think ima pass on it but thanks though. But I looked at Incriminator Audio. Im liking their stuff. I met a guy last weekend running 4 15 inch Death Penalties in a Grand Cherokee and they were loud as hell and they dont cost near as much as a Nightshade which is what I really want.
