My OEM CD player in my '99 Z24 just spits out CD's when I put them in, and I've tried lens cleaners but nothing is helping. So I've decided to replace the CD player with another OEM one. I don't want to go aftermarket so I don't have to worry about people breaking into the car trying to get it.
My question is can I replace my OEM player with a '00-02 or a '03-05 OEM player? Are the wiring harnesses the same & would I have to take them to a dealer to get them programmed? I would just do a '95-99 replacement to be safe but.....1. I can't find any used '95-99 players.....and 2. I would like to get one in close to new condition & I probably won't find a '95-99 like that even if I could find one.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I see that the '00-02's and '03-05 are readily available & pretty cheap on eBay.
Not going to work, 2000+ is Class 2.
Damn, that sucks. So if I'm able to find a like new '95-99 OEM player, is it an easy swap or do I still need to get it programmed with a Tech 2?
Also, can I swap a '99 OEM player from a Chevy truck or SUV? It looks like Tahoes, Silverados, etc. have the exact same player....at least from the front controls view. Would they mount differently or are they a direct swap?
You'd have to relearn the theftlock, there's info in the forum somewhere.
