Let me rephrase that...I have found numerous locations for ground but once i hook it up and the dvd is playing, i turn off the unit and then it seems to reset itself back to the blue warning screen while grounded in the same spot still...weird...Any ideas???

Thanks Everyone!

newer ones require that the car gets turned on then the ground lifted. Have a circuit that flutters the ground or tie it to a switch and hit it when you start the car

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

O alright. So how would the wiring set up actually look like? Just the green parking wire and a ground wire running to a switch?

The way I wired mine was as follows.

Green parking brake wire to one side of a micro toggle, the other end of the toggle went to the ground. On the initial start up with the in dash I had to flip the toggle in the following sequence.

Flip toggle to on position, wait 3 seconds, flip to off, wait 3 seconds, and flip right back to on.

Thats how mine was set up for whatever reason. The only time I had to redo the sequence was if I unhooked my batter, or put the ignition in the accessory position.

You may or may not have to...any time I've done only just the ground, without a switch the only time I can play a dvd is if the parking brake is engaged. You might get lucky and have one that doesn;t need to be tricked with a switch.

what kind of dvd player is it? i know for my Dual unit in dash i just had to enter a code, reset it, and it works while driving. very unsafe though i found out and i can understand why its illegal. but its a lot nicer than having to put the ebrake in and out three times just to get it to start a dvd.

On my friends Alpine he had to get a switching module that would do the foot barke hand brake combo that you have to go through to bypass the video lock. Some In dash had GPS sensors and and motion sensors

Search Next time, this was posted many times, and i know iv posted this answer at least 3 times...

For your situation, your Stereo is booting up, and then looking for ground. If it sees ground during the boot process its not going to override.

If you want something thats automatic heres the easiest way.

Get a cheap relay from autozone or advanced

Ill try to explain this best I can, but read the instructions on the relay.

Your Trigger is going to Pin 30

Your trigger is going to be a tap of your remote turn on for your amps

Your Parking brake wire from the head unit is going to Pin 85

Now, you have two pins left 86 and 87. Ground Both of them.

Now when your head unit turns on, it will go through its boot process. Remote Amp Leads will be off, Unit looks for ground and doesnt see it.

It finishes boot process, turns on Amp leads, which turns on the relay which allows your head unit to go to ground and viola....your dvds will play

sorry the switches work just with the cars i install the in dashes in are of a higher class so having switches any where they would most likely complain so using the over ride codes works best no alterations if traded in or any thing like that just very clean and gets the job done flawless every time. u want switches go for it its just a opion use it dont use it.

None of my cars have switches in them. No modification is done to the car. Just to the head unit.

I have a pioneer avic d3 all I had to do was move the mute wire and pin from the harness to the empty spot above it and ground that out and ground the parking brake. All DVD functions and navi functions work while I drive.

Are you talking about bypassing factory DVD units?

Because that information really doesn't apply to this J-body forum.

no aftermarket. my shop ususally works mainly on german and other cars. but ive installed many in lots of gms we uses codes or other tricks to bypass cause the switch way just wouldnt cut it in most the cars just cause the way most the owners are.

What the hell are you talking about "codes"? I work for a company is very tight ties with Alpine, Pioneer and Clarion, and all of the bypasses are strictly hardware based.

No I don't use switches, but what brand of indash screens are you installing that you can "code"?

My friends alpine..im not sure how he wired it, but its desighned for each click of the ebrake. He has to hit the brake and hold it down, turn a switch on, off, on off, on then turn a 2nd switch on then back off and let off the brake for the picture to show up lol...he has 2 other TVs added onto the head unit...but sounds like its way more hassle than it should be...AND, he has to do it everytime he wants picture lol, like if he shuts its car off, ect.

Get a PacLoc bypass unit. Ebay for like $35. Hook in you respective brake wires and it cycles automatically for you. Nifty as tits.
