Need help figuring out what it is
Monday, December 07, 2009 12:38 PM
Hey
I just recently installed new wiring harnesses that are heavy duty to accept higher wattage bulbs, etc. I also took the bolt out of the head to put a oil pressure sender into it but it snapped in half. We got the little part and the big part and put the old bolt back in. I just put my old bulbs back in because the new ones hardly put any light output because they were blue. Now, the High Beam headlight light stays on and it says Service and has a wrench lit up with it. Anyone tell me what caused this? It wasn't the oil bolt I don't think because it worked fine after that. But after I installed the new bulbs I think I bent the wires too much or something because they are too large for my headlight assembly. I was gonna put the old harness back in, but I could not find them. Do you think wires came lose for the new wiring harness causing this? I can actually switch between low and high beam just fine, but I am not sure why it stays on. Also, my car begins to stink more than normal like teh exhaust fumes. Is this because it is getting cold out. Just need some help. Thanks guys!

EVILution:I don't need your comments because I learned my lesson. I am not going to mess with anything engine related anymore. But if you can help me with why the lights stay on and why it stinks great, but I don't need smart comments. Thanks!
Justin

Does it smell like exhaust, burning electrical, dead carcass, what?

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

smells like exhaust mainly...the lights only came on after i jammed the headlights in the housing. there is that bulb cover that goes on it, and the wiring harness is heavy duty and thick and it makes the cover move the bulb upwards. im not sure but i put the standard bulbs back in to make sure. but it does smell like exhaust mostly, but im thinking its what i did with the headlights because it only came on after i put the headlights on the one time and the highbeam light stays lit so im guessing it has to do with the headlights im like 90 percent sure
