Subwoofer enclosure questions

wondering some basic things before i start designing a ported box. Sorry if they're obvious, im new to this and I couldn't seem to find the answer.

Im going to build a box for 2 Pioneer Premier TSW3002D2 12" subs. (had previous thread about choosing amp)
For a ported enclosure the "instruction manuel" recommends 1.2 cu.ft. per sub and Maximum of 1.6.... isnt that tiny????? Everywhere i have read people seem to say 2 - 3 cu.ft for a 12" sub.

I am going to have the subs sealed from one another each with their own port. (but still in the same enclosure)
In your opinions, what volume should i have per sub and what volume for each port. (not circle port please)

** does the box volume NOT include the port volume and subwoofer volume? So if the manufacturers recommended enclosure is 1.2 cu.ft, It will actually be physically larger because that 1.2 cu.ft would not include the port and speaeker?

trying to get around 35 herz. (just what i heard is a good number for that)

each sub has a displacement of 0.181 cu.ft and will each have approxomately 800 watts if that helps with anything.

Thanks

That 1.2 is after port and sub displacement. I try to use between 14 and 16 square inches of port area per cubic foot of the box.

So between 16.8 and 19.2 square inches of port. Personally I use the RE Audio Calc to figure my boxes. If I were you I would design a box for one sub and add them together.

I did I quickee for one sub since Im bored. I would just build each chamber to these specs.

yeah, ill just design 1 box. but still, isnt 1.2 cu.ft quite small? or should i go with it because that is the manufacturers recommendation?

It doesnt sound too small too me. I would just stick with manufacturers specs myself.

Follow manufacturer's specs. kthanx. Not tiny at all, my optis will do a 1.1 ported up to a 1.8 cube ported, and .9 sealed.

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

alright awesome. Im going to build a ported box about 1.7 cubs. 1.5 plus roughly 0.2 for sub and port. ill just build one at a time and glue+screw them together. Ill build a box similar to sundowns pic there.

If you guys want ill put some pics up when i start building. Let me know

Make sure you arent making it too wide or else youre going have issues making it fit in the trunk.

Biggest box I had was 30 long x 17 tall x 18 deep. And that was a whore getting in.

hahah, yeah man, I believe it. I just went and measured, and im pretty sure 2 of those boxes will just barely fit in the trunk of my 95 cavalier. I was wanting to make it a but bigger but i dont think i can really. Only the depth.
