2004 Electronic Door Locks
Saturday, January 16, 2010 10:51 AM
On my 4 door 2004 cavalier all of the door locks stopped working electronically, except the drivers door.

It started with just the passenger side. At that time I was able to lock/unlock both drivers side doors electronically.

Now, the back drivers side door has stopped as well.

Whats even stranger is that now I can only UNLOCK the drivers door electronically, but not lock it.

Is my car possessed? =)

I thought it might have been actuators, but with 3/4 not working and the unique drivers door
situation, now I'm not so sure.

Any ideas?

battery in clicker? or the switches on the door panel are bad? How are you trying to open them? with the clicker or the switch on the door panel?

The same thing happens when I use the remote, or the switches inside.

Only my drivers door unlocks. None of the other doors will lock or unlock electronically.

Check your fuses. I had it where only my drivers door worked by the switch or remote... ended up being the fuse, after i had already gone out and bought a new door lock relay (located near the passenger side kick panel area).

Lesson I learned... Always check the "easiest thing first"

I checked those awhile back when it first started happening, but I'll definitely check them again. It's too easy not to and then find out that's the problem later lol.

After answering the question above I decided to double check my answer and when I tried to lock/Unlock from inside the car...no go.

So, the truth is that the only electronic door lock that works is the driver door, it only UNlocks, and only from the key fob.

Nothing happens when using the switches inside.

Anybody else have an idea?
