Inset seat back mounting for amps
Monday, September 12, 2005 4:24 PM
Hey there guys looking for some ideas as to inset the two amps and cross over i have into the back of the rear seat. The seat folds down and all but just looking for some ideas on how to build it. I have plenty of scrap wood lying around so that is my first choice to do it then carpet it more than likely with plexi over it. building the box isnt going to be the issue just was wondering if those who have done it have any tips about doing it. I have some ideas on what to do but thought I would check here first before I go cutting away.

id make a box out of steel and flush sind that into the back of the seat. youll have to add in harder foam material on the front side of it as well if you still plan on having back seat passengers.

Yeah i will have back seat passengers now and then. I'll figure something out so the amps hold and people dont get stabbed by screws. haha

as thin as our seats are to flush mount a set of boxes into the back your going to have no foam whatsoever between your amps and passengers. you'd be better off to make you a box trim piece that goes over the amp and mount the amp onto the back.

as in instead of flushing the amp into the seat, you build out from the seat with basically a top and the sides carpeted to match the seats so it just looks like the seat opening is thicker, then you flush mount the amp into that.
