Does anyone know where I can find a High Output alternator for a 2002 2.4L Cavalier? I have searched the org up and down and only found 2000 and under. are they the same?
How many amps do you need? Sometimes the factory amp can be gutted and fitted with different windings to raise the output. I had a place in Omaha about 6 years back that I used, and that's what they did. I had the alternator on my S10 rewound to something like 180 amps. I had them do two of them for the truck to run my dB drag equipment. Also, check out Ohio Generator. A lot of the SPL guys use their products. Here's the link: www.ohiogen.com

I'm looking fo no more than 200 amps. I just cant find one for a 2002. there are kits all over ebay but they say 96-99 2.4L. I am wondering if these kits will fit mine.
I don't honestly know. I'm not a Cavalier guy as much as some of the guys here. If you need more than 200 amps, though, you might be looking at a second unit. I'm not too sure the alternators in our cars can be rewound for that kind of power. I'd suggest finding an audio shop in your area and tell them what you want, they might be able to find you something. Is this something you can get away with running capacitors and extra batteries? I don't know what you're wanting to do here but 200 amps is a lot of juice.

you want over 200 amps? that would be perfect fo like a 2kilowatt cb system.

This is the kit on ebay I am looking at. I want this because I am running a 1600 watt Alpine Amp with 2 12" Eclipse Subs and it likes to dim my lights when it hits. I can even feel it drain power from my engine when I am driving. It is pretty loud, I have reached 149db in a contest with it. I can also feel a huge load on my engine when I have my lights on, heater on, and rear defroster on, and especially when all that is on and then the radiator fan kicks on.
Ebay alternator 200 amp kit
You need a couple farad cap(s) and a second battery.
I checked out that link to HOAlternators and they want 500 for a 200 Amp alternator, does that sound about right? How did you get yours for $200 Cavi sedan ls (justin u)? I think I could really use one because I have 3 TVs a 500/1 amp, foglights, ps2, minifridge, etc running and it drains the battery bad. Plus I think the alternator is going out anyway, so I'd like to upgrade it as well as a new battery and a cap i'm thinking.
my 300 amp from dom was mid 400s
you shouldnt need over a 200 amp alt. there are a few guys here running the same type of power off of the stock alt. so an extra 70 amps or so should do you plenty. also with alts, you need to check when the power is available. a 200 amp alt off ebay wont do you any good if it only puts out 40 amps at idle and doesnt put out 200 amps till your at 8 grand. make sure you find out the true ratings on them or you may end up with a worse amp then you had.

i called the local alternator shop where i live about mine on my 97 cavalier 2.4 and he suggested that i couldnt get mine rewound because the stock cases arent large enough to handle the power for the heat disapation i think he said. Im not totally for sure on this but thats what i was told.
