I'm fabricating the roof liner on an 3rd gen (2004) with the overhead counsel from a S10 Blazer, Jimmy, .... The Haynes book just plain blows. They don't have the correct harness for the EcoTec. For the temp gauge to work correctly it needs to be hooked up to the vehicle speed sensor off the micro processor in the counsel. I hope someone can give me the correct wire either off the interceptor plug or off the ecu. I'll be sure to get pictures of the fab. Only ever seen it in the 1st and 2nd gens but not a 3rd.

Is it engine or outside temp gauge? Ours are set up to work off of the serial wire, then it goes thru a chip that converts it. The VSS you can access at the cluster, I think it's the purple wire.
Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.
It's also at Pin 61 on the PCM behind the Driver's Kick Panel, but that's in a 1999 Cav. Not sure it'll be there in 2004, I don't have access to my tech info right now.
Thanks guys. I'm booked until this weekend but if all goes well I should have it in and up. Just finished trimming down the the base, well I don't know if you'd call it the base since it's above your head, and just glued the headliner material on.

I got thinking today about that overhead counsel. If my memory serves me right the instrument cluster has 2 purple wires, one to the interceptor plug and another to the airbag module. Maybe it was a purple and a purple/black or white. I can't remember if it was with my old 99 harness or the 01 ls harness I installed when I did the EcoTec swap. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have a bad feeling that if I don't have the VSS hooked up the CPU in the counsel will just throw a temperature code or something along those lines.
