this forum's been very helpful to me for all the years i've owned a cavy, and ever since i sold it last year i still come back to this forum on daily basis.
i will be installing 2 way alarm w/ remote start and aftermarket keyless entry along with bypass module.
my question is will i have to wire any relays or diodes or anything complex like that? especially for keyless entry, i know you need a relay or could a FORTIN module take care of that? any input from installers would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
vehicle is 2009 cobalt 2.2 xfe.. by pass module - fortin can sl2 and alarm unit is autopage rs730
I looooooooooooooove the new can modules. It saves hours of time, relays, all kinds of stuff. For yours, it looks like the module will cover everything, including door triggers. Just will need to program the passkey 3.

another critical question.. i will most likely been using suitcase connectors to tap into wires. can somebody tell me what gauge those wires are?
ignition are a 12-14, the rest of them are going to be an 18-22 gauge.

If memory serves me right, on the right hand side by the center column is going to be all of your wiring for your ignition, then the rest gets tapped off of the OBD2 port.

so for actuators can i run all 4 of them to bypass module and then bypass module to alarm unit?? do i do it in parallel or series circuit? can you please tell me how to correctly wire them??
wait... are you putting in aftermarket actuators, or does it have stock actuators?

my car does not have power door locks, so i am installing aftermarket actuators...
Oh boy, then you can't use the door lock/unlock setup. You're going to need relays.

so i will need to make 8 relays (i have 4 doors) that will leave me with 4 - lock output and 4 - unlock outputs... do i splice the 4 wires into 1 and then run it to alarm or bypass??
looks like i can use 2 relays, 1 for lock and 1 for unlock, but how can i wire 4 actuators to 1 relay??
you'll need 4 actuators, 2 relays. Since you're using a relay and it has a terminal on it, just use a female terminal and either solder all 4 onto it, or use a 14-12 gauge yellow terminal and put all the wires in it. you won't need any type of heavy gauge wire for the door actuators.

the actuator has this weird metal male tip connector (which i never used before), what kind of female connector do i use to secure my wires to it?
it's called a bullet connector
Yup, it probably has a male bullet end. Radio shack for sure has them in stock usually.

ok so i am going to be using +12 V wire for quite a few things like alarm, actuators, power windows, modules, etc... is it safe to tap all those things to 1 wire? there's probably going to be a lot of current flowing and i don't want to blow a fuse or worse yet cause a fire.
Use a relay.

thanks guys for all the help... i've purchased 100$ worth of connectors and relays and executing my install as we speak... hopefully will be done in 2-3 days
Wow. Wanna be my friend and do installs for me too? I wanna say you got raped on some prices there homie.
