use a cold cathode for a computer. uses 12v dc and its cheap. if you get a 4 inch you should be able to wire up the light and place the transformer in the dome all nice and contained
Whats up people?
What size is the LED for the trunk bulb? On the bulb it says T12 but ebay doesn't have anything like that.
Also, I'm interested in the CC idea. Can you please elaborate?
Its really easy

Order some lights. When they get there cut off the molex connector and and the bulb socket on your trunk/whatever light you want and wire in the light.
Simple as that.
Please use safe wiring practices and at least tape but preferably heat shrink the wires after soldering them

that is the best site on the web for your LED source. i was gonna do the same route as you but decided to stay stock. if i were get some though it would be there. there are so many awesome reviews on that site plus other sites from them. they are super bright and made to last. don't hesitate to ask there or here about them. i would get the blocks with tons of LEDs on them. they just plug into a dummy bulb and set in the area of your original bulb.
i was browsing superbrightleds.com and they have some blacklight options on their site as well in various types of bulbs maybe try searching UV light in their search bar...i just finished ordering two red-srck 3157 for the tails and a set of accent lighting pieces in cool white for my reverse lights (3 light LED in a small box shape to mount in the license plate area) ..in the process of getting 03+ LSS rear in gear. $5.33 for shipping is nothing
Javis I didn't know it could be that simple. Even though that alone requires some work in the car, it could be much worse.
However, I still don't know what size LEDs would fit the socket in the trunk...
The problem with LED's, especially the black light ones, is they are not bright enough. The 4" cold cathode however is very bright in comparison. It really isn't hard to wire them up just remember to soldier and heat shrink all your connections so you don't blow fuses. If you don't have a soldiering iron spend $15 at Princess Auto and get one! This is a must if you want to do any wiring on your car even a stereo hookup.
