What are my options. budget 100$. I was thinking of installing 6-1/2" Speakers in the front. But really not sure what would be best. I have the special cav/sunfire mounting bracket. I don't mind doing a custom install. What about the tweeters that are currently in the front.
Any advice related would be appreciated.
2000 sunfire. Is there already a good post covering front speaker install. couldn't find anything. What speakers would fit and sound great for 80-100$
You can actually get a somewhat decent set of 6.5" components for right around $100. Then having someone make custom baffles to fit them is like $10-$15 or you can make them yourself. HOWEVER, I highly suggest an amp for any aftermarket components because the HU power just isn't going to bring them alive for your ears. Even a small 50-70 watt 2 channel amp would be worlds of difference. If your budget is set at $100 with no room to move, I would suggest just getting some coaxials to drop in. Easy install, most of them don't require as much power, so HU power will suffice much better.
If you are interested in dropping in coaxials, I would suggest Rainbow KX165's. Why, on a tight budget am I still recommending a higher end brand? Because I can get that particular set of coaxials shipped to your door from one of the nations very few authorized dealers for $110. Fully warrantied.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just want to do a proper install of front speakers. I have 2 subwoofers, but no amp yet to power them. I'm planing on getting a descent 4ch amp in the 250$ range to supply power to the 2 subs and the front speakers. Correct me if thats not a good Idea.
Heres what I already have.
The subs are sound
For now i just need front speakers that will sound as good as the rear speaks I just installed below. I was hopping i could just pick something up at bestbuy a just custom fit it and then power them later once i have enough for a good amp.
JBL GTO 6" x 9" 2-Way Car Speaker (GTO928)got them half off boxing day.
94dB, 2ohm, 2way, 100 RMS (300max)
I like the bestbuy warranty allowing me to swap them if they get blown.
Deck JVC KD-R210 (i know,just very cheap)
2 subs 1 box, 125RPMS each. (freq response 37-500 Hz, Sens. 1 w/l m: 94RPMS.
I want to know if I can get away with using these old subs i have for now.
I'm just looking have an okay sound system.
the issue you will run into is that you only have one set of preouts on that head unit. I honestly wish I could get the point of a good quality head unit(the source of everything in your stereo system), is key, BEFORE they buy one. Everyone always asks for speaker and amp advice after they bought a head unit with no expandability. If cheap if key, JVC. Definitely. They don't get packed with a @!#$ ton of features, but they are cheap, reliable, and simple. If you are willing to spend $150-$250 on a new deck, I say look into alpine. KEEP PREOUTS IN MIND when shopping. You want one with 3 sets (6 channels). So you can expand in whatever way you want. Amp for fronts, amp for subs, even rears or midbass if you so desire in the future
My suggestions:
NEW HEAD UNIT WITH MORE PREOUTS
Decent entry level components up front
4 channel amp that will give your subs enough power from the rear channels, and also the fronts for your front speakers.
What kind of subs and what coil configuration? Can't give specific amp advice without knowing that.
here are some cheaper head unit suggestions:'
This one has 2 sets of preouts, so one for front, one for subs. Perfect for a 4 channel amp:

Here is a nice Alpine that also has 2 sets:

And if you want 3 sets of preouts and an all around better head unit, as cheap as I can find for something GOOD would be this:

That last one is actually what I'm running in my daily driver right now. Good unit, solid, and easy to navigate the menu's. If you want some help in finding good quality used gear as well, let me know. Whenever I'm at the computer and available, I am always able to help with getting people into good car audio products and knowledge.

Yeah. I told a guy in another thread how that's possible, but you definitely lose some control over your stuff. And running a single set of RCA's split to a 4 channel will also cut your input voltage down a bit so your amps gain will have to compensate a bit more as well.

Liquor is not a drug John, liquor is not a drug.
It has single voice coil.
The jvc deck i have is 17.8(W) x 5.0(H) x 17.9(D)cm (Tight fit) , the one I want to buy is 18.2(W) x 5.2(H) x 15.9(D) cm. THeres not enough clearance at the back of the the deck for all the wires and I don't really want to have a deck that sticks out with the adapter. Can i cut out whats back there. Its some kind of steel beam or something. Anyone Do this yet?
it's just a piece of plastic, hack it out.
