Cluster swap

I just reciently got my old cav back, it's a '97 2.2 5spd. I have and extra cluster from my '02 when I swapped to the sunfire cluster. Will the cluster from the '02 with a tach work in the '97?

Im not 100% but I dont think it will since the 02 cluster has info stored in the BCM which the 97 wouldnt have.

Brian is right IIRC...

I know it has something to do with the Digital odometer...

the newer cluster is a different shape, and different data language/requires a BCM to work. simple answer: no.

Is it really a different shape?

Never really noticed between the '96 and '00 Z

I figured it wouldn't because of the digital odometer. I didn't know if anyone had figured out something to make them work. If I were to find a 5spd 95-99 z cluster would that work in it?

It's not just the odometer, everything works off of UART for 95-99, and Class 2 for 2000+ from a bcm.

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.
