Would anybody pay $100 for these speakers? Im wonderin if its worth it to buy them...keep in mind theyre used but "barely used"
2 - 4X6 Infinity Reference Series 4652cfp
2 - 6X9 Infinity Reference Series 6953i
thanks
I wouldnt....
spend that 100$ on some good components, i personally dont know what makes a good component set, but i enjoy my polk audio db series.

If hes gonna spend 100 bucks on components then hes gonna have to spend more to get an amp to power them
Those speakers would be a decent upgrade from stock. Dont expect superior sound from them though.

way to actually contribute to helping the guy find something in that budget that is better. Go you for just blurting out the mouth without thinking(or maybe not knowing).
ANYWAY, that price is still a tad steep for older model Infinity drop in's. is that all you are looking to do is cheaply upgrade the stock speakers? There are tons of brand-new options out there that will fall into a similar price range.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Sorry for thread hijacking, but would someone please explain to me why component speakers require amping, and coaxials don't. why would components require more power to move than coaxials?
As far as I know they dont NEED an amp, you would just get much more out of them with the extra power. Same goes for a good set of coaxials.
Coax speakers are built with higher sensitivity but lower power handling. this means they will get louder with smaller amounts of power, but they have a lower ceiling as far as how loud they can go.
Components have lower sensitivity but higher power handling. This means that they will be quieter than coax with the same amount of power put to them, but they can get louder with more power (an amp).

Ok, do you have any suggestions? i bought this car for 50 bucks...its not a POS but i dont wanna have TOO much into it ya know? Just want an upgrade from stock
thanks
you bought the car for 50 bucks? damn! i wish i could find a totaled car for that much lol! i know it was probly a typo...
click sig for my car audio videos
nope not a typo i bought it off my uncle for $50 (fifty) dollars. It had electrical problems, which i later concluded were due to his son (pothead dumbass) and his buddies (other pothead dumbasses) wiring the car for subs and all that jazz.
So i put the audio back to stock and its fine now. Lucky me!
Well throw a budget out. I could easily steer you down the road of the best sounding equipment that a good install can have.... OR get you the best FOR YOUR MONEY
Just gotta know a budget. And are you just dropping in new speakers off the stock HU?
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

im lookin to get the most improvement over the stock speakers for the least amount of money. I have a head unit to throw in if i need to (KD-S5050)
Probably not lookin to spend more than $150....probably gonna go the used route if i can
i mean if i can get better quality in doing so
looks like that head unit has 1 set of preouts, and it's fairly basic... I would honestly look into a newer entry level HU, 4 channel amp, decent components etc.. if much higher quality is to be obtained, but on a smaller but still quality budget, Rainbow does make stock size drop in speakers that will sound much better than stock, amped or not. Obviously having a good source unit and amp for whatever speakers/subs is going to be ideal, but if you want simple drop ins, budget will be key. Rainbow's will probably be $100 per pair or so. Lower priced drop in coaxials, just look at quality known brands 2-way speakers.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

ok, so what are you suggeting? i know terminology but it gets confusing if theres a lot of it (im a mechanic not an audio guy haha)
Well.... like I said, budget is key for me to suggest anything.
My Rainbow dealer might actually have some reasonably priced higher end speakers, BUT, like myself, he cannot stand oval speakers(they are not a good thing ; ) ). SO, I could get a price on some drop in 6.5" coaxials as well if you want. That way you just make a 1/2" or 3/4" baffle out of MDF and then drop in the 6.5. It seems like upgrading to comps and an amp isn't in your budget or skill set?

ANNNNNNNNDDDD on that note... rough pricing if you happen to want to go the slightly better branded way....
Rainbow 4.75" SL120 2-way coaxials: $65 plus shipping... seriously unbeatable price. AND would just need to make an adapter, no extra depth needed 1/2" MDF should work perfect.
Rainbow 6X9 KX 2 way coaxials: $100 or a tad over $100. Right in that range.
You will spend about $20 less on the rears and $10 less on the fronts going with Alpine Type-S 4X6's, and Type-S 6X9's, and that's before shipping AND I promise FAR worse sounding speakers
With all that said, I'm surprised to find a brand like Rainbow in such a cheap budget, but I can work wonders with my dealer

i asked my friends and they said theyve never heard of Rainbow speakers before
Good for them, they aren't that big into sound quality. Ask on a real audio forum. The regular Joe isn't going to have heard of all the truely high end brands (most of which are German, such as Rainbow.
if you want to see their speakers go to www.rainbow-audio.de then click the little English flag at the bottom to see the site in English.
Rainbow
Morel
Focal
DynAudio
Tru
Helix/Brax
Audison
DLS
Synfoni
Need I go on? I bet you haven't heard of any or most of those brands, but if "your friends" are the only people giving you audio advice, and they haven't heard of brands like that, then don't take high end audio advice from them, because they don't know anything high end.
Car audio enthusiasts and people building high dollar, high end sound quality systems are using brands that a lot of people haven't heard of. They don't go over the top marketing them to the average Joe, because usually, they can't afford it. And they want to keep their products in the hands of professionals and enthusiasts.
Anyway, I tried to help get you into something more high end than you will find at any normal website or store, AND get unbeatable prices(seriously, my dealer isn't going to give pricing like this to anyone, and he won't do it every single time I ask.). BUT, if your friends knowing the brand name is what you go on, feel free to spend the same amount of money on something like the Alpine Type-S 4X6's and 6X9's that won't sound anywhere near as good or be as quality built. I actually almost feel personally insulted that "My friends haven't heard of them" is the best @!#$ response I got after recommending something nice...

I'm surprised you're not used to that response by now.
I get it from time to time that people are weary of buying a brand they haven't heard a ton about. It happened the last time I recommended someone on here some Rainbows. Know what happened? He was polite, asked questions, I gave answers, gave info, helped him understand some stuff, and he made a purchase of some nice entry to mid level Rainbow's. And I can't wait for the review once he installs them. Some people just can't fathom buying something they can't get off a shelf at Best Buy. And unfortunately a lot of people (like his friends, I'm sure), have some thumpy cheap subs and amps with wires all over the place, but since THEY installed their own @!#$, they act like they know everything, and this guy might just get guidance from those people. It's a @!#$ shame.

I had to respond quickly and thats all i typed. sorry if you took that the wrong way, but i guess its because its a german brand or something....
But yeah i went on the website, and i clicked on "speakers"
What would you recommend?
Thanks
And what price range is this? I dont mind spending a little more than planned but i cant afford much more
So if you could give me some price quotes that would be great
thanks again
