where to buy?
Friday, May 28, 2010 3:32 AM
so im planning on fiberglassing parts of my interior, mainly for audio set-up. like the door panels and rear panel where the 6x9s are, and then over lay it with carbon fiber instead of paint, dont worry that part i can handle. what i need to know is if there is a place to buy the precut wood to support the speakers, like a 6x9 cut-out and legs to raise them a little. I tried looking around but couldnt find an actual place to buy from, any help is appreciated, thanks

Highly unlikely you will find prefab stand offs for speakers since each model speaker mounts slightly different and have different clearances.

Make your own, all you need is wood, wooden dowels, glue and proper the cutting tools.

you should be able to find a company that will cnc cut baffles for speakers, you just need to tell them the sizes you need. back when i was in highschool i sent a guy on ebay who was selling standard sized baffles a message asking if he could do some custom sized baffels and he did for a very good price, iirc it was like 20 baffles for around 60$ (5.625 id and 8 inch od), not a bad price i thought...

www.caraudioclassifieds.net click on the AMI Creations link under the vendor/sponsor section. He has a sticky in his forum with set baffle prices. If it's custom beyond what's listed, PM him. I will use and recommend Mike for every single wood working need. You will NEVER be disappointed in his prices or top notch quality of work.
