Okay so i recently got the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993 headunit. I love this headunit to death, by far the best one i've ever owned. It has no problem controlling my ipod ( 80GB ipod classic), however whenever one of my friends plugs in their 3rd gen itouch ( with the speaker built in) the unit will not find it. Ive tried resetting the ipod and still hasnt fixed it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Heres the headunit i have :

And heres a link to a list of compatible ipods which is all of them :

I had a deck recently do that and it turned out to be a bad cable. It would work with one ipod, but not with a newer one (the colored nanos)
Only problem I ever have, is that my deck doesn't charge my i-touch, but it charges both my nanos no problem..though I think that is an i-pod issue, not the deck...
Im gonna try using the actual ipod cable this time. Maybe thatll work
Oh if it's a USB cable (not a proprietary "kenwood" ipod cable) check to see if your ipod has to be in "disc mode".
did they do the iOS4 update? i just bought an Alpine CDA-105L and it worked perfectly with my iphone until i did the update and now it wont work, that could be the issue as the ipod compatibility in most head units were only designed to work with the OS 3x and before, maybe find that out
