right now i have a pdx 4.100 amp in the car. im only using the rear outs for the 6x9's and i have the 4x6's going directly to the head unit. im currently in the process of adding some SPR 17s (6.5 alpine type r components) and was wondering if i hook them up to the amp if ill lose power going to them because of the front speakers being hooked up to the deck itself. thx for the help!!
no you wont lose power but your question was a little confusing are you keeping the 4x6s in the door and adding the components somewhere else or are you taking out your 4x6s and putting the components there
im wanting to keep the 4x6 in the doors, and i have the 6.5's and the tweeters in the kick panel (q-form panels) but i have the passengers side hooked up and they dont seem to be hitting hard at all even with the gain all the way up on the amp
first off i would get rid of the 4x6s just because you have more speakers in your car dosent mean its gonna sound better. second just because you have your gain turned all the way up dosent mean there gonna bump either. if i were you i would read a lil more about tunning your amp because that will make a huge difference trust me. to answer the question why they arent hitting hard i would try re checking how you wired them up make sure all the connections are tight and every thing is hooked up right.
You want to keep head unit powered 4X6's in the door, amped 6X9's in the rear, and half decent amped components in the kicks, AND you just "turn the gain all the way up"??!? You should really look into having someone with a little more knowledge install and tune your stuff. You clearly don't have a full grasp on setting up an audio system in a car. You should start with the basics and ask simple questions and learn everything you can before touching your car's electrical system if you are this inexperienced. I could go on and on and give you alll this advice, but seriously, you need to just start at the basics.

lol no no no i didnt just turn the amp's gain to the max and turn the stereo up, i started at low with all my settings off and turned the gain up an 1/8th at a time with my volume at 3/4 - listening level. i know how to tune an amp and everything its just what i wanted to say came out wrong lol. i checked all the wiring on the speakers n such and they were fine. but i finished the drivers side tonight and hooked everything up and it sounds 200% better and its where i want it to be with the gain set to "norm" (half) on the amp. i dont know if its because of how the q-form kick panels are designed but yah, with only one hooked up they sound pretty @!#$ty, but when you have both hooked up its like its designed to work that way and that way only, im thinking it more than likely has something to do with the sound waves but yah lol, i wired everything up, set the settings and its where i want it to be and its all set up safetly, this will be like my 20th time setting up a car audio setup, just the way i worded it, made it come out wrong, sorry for the confusion. but the problem is solved and everything sounds great, thx for the help though guys, much appreciated!
4X6 off deck power.... powered rears....powered comps.... and this is the 20th you've done? I feel REALLY bad with whatever kind of inexperienced "sound stage" the first guy got...................

wow, nice to see we have some haters out there. but no, i dont tell people what to buy or how to do their car audio setups, they buy their equipment and they ask me to help run wires and mount everything they way THEY want.
Hater? nope just someone with experience in this hobby/business that can't stand to see things done wrong or amateurs acting as pros or know it all's that's all.

i never once said i was pro or knew it all. no one will never know everything there is to know about it, theres always new technology comming out and things change all the time, all im saying was that everything ive hooked up for friends, they were happy with and have never had a problem with the way things were hooked up and i double check my wires all the time to make sure i have the right ohm load and pos to pos, neg to neg etc
well with the way your wording things and explaining yourself its easy for most of us to assume you know absolutly nothing about audio. its not are fault really.
and sorry, but get the 4x6 out of the doors, they arn't helping the sound out anyway, your componets in the q-forms are overpowering them and leaving them in will just destroy any type of soundstage the q-forms are creating.
