Ok to start off my windshield got smashed and mirrors broken off a while back so I replaced everthing. I bought some fancy/cheap ebay side mirrors that have blue led turn indicator in them. I finally wired them up directly to the blinker/parking lights, and they work fine when I do not have parking lights/headlights on. The turn signal blinks still and technically the blue leds should now be on with the parking lights. Can someone explain if the voltage changes or relay could mess with this?
I should've spell checked :/
when I had them wired up I couldn't go off of the switch because of this. So I went off the wires to the blinkers and that fixed my problem
Hmm... mine is a '98, so different wiring I'm assuming. I don't know what will fix this problem, although it's not that big of a deal. But it is pointless that they work during the day when you can't see them and not at night! haha
that was on my 99 fire I had
What wires did you connect them to? If you went with the brown and blue ones... that's why. LED's are polarized - you have to connect the positive side to a positive. If you try and use the blue and brown wires, you're actually switching from positive to negative as the parking lights come on... which is why they won't work as anything other than repeaters.
You need to connect the positive to the blue wire (for the signal +12V) and the negative to the ground (black wire or car chassis).
Ok, I'll swap the wires today. So they shouldn't come on with-out the parking lights on? I didn't know it reversed polarity once I flipped the switch....odd.
