so i have 2 kicker 15 inch L5s in my car.. last night i was just driving and all the sudden, the subs and the door speakers quit playing and only my highs would play... i checked the fuse by the battery and the fuse on the amp and neither was blown.. i havent checked the remote wire yet behind my kenwood deck because i lost the keys to get the deck out.. i just wanted to know if there is any way to tell if an amp is blown just by looking at it? It was cool outside when it blew so i don't think it over heated because it wasn't on very long...
Uhmmmm... more info? You say your speakers stop working and only your highs were playing?? I'm confused... what all is connected to the amp? What kind of amp? Sounds to me like it could be a loose connection, maybe bad RCA's, could be a bunch of things. is the amp turning on at all? is it on without sound coming out? Seriously... more info damnit.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

i had that happen one time with a used amp i picked up off of kijiji.. had it for a few days and it all of a sudden just quit. fuses checked out, wiring was ok, checked 100 times.
All i could really do to check, was verify the amp was getting power (which mine was,) and use a different set of speakers on the outputs on the amp to verify they were bad. there was an internal problem with mine, i think it was due to overheating in my case though.
im basically saying the same thing as JLAudioCavalier just in the form of a story lol
hahah sorry i didn't give enough info...the remote wire actually came lose behind the head unit and i fixed it but now there's another problem of course... I re connected the remote wire and every time i would turn my car off, my subs would hit one last time out of nowhere and the amp and everything was off but it never did that before?? and then the other day, a light came on in my car saying that there was an airbag malfunction and all the sudden my head unit turned off. I was so confused because i didnt get in a wreck so no airbag should have tried to deploy. I can't figure out why my HU won't turn on now. I don't know where to even begin with this one????????
Do you have a Pioneer head unit?
no its a kenwood excelon kdc-x993
so it was the fuse, not the one on the back of the radio but one in the fuse box...it keeps popping though...it never did that until the remote wire came loose and i had to put it back on. that's also when the subs started hitting once after the car was turned off. Now though, when i put a new fuse in and crank my car, the fuse pops instantly and i can't figure out why. is it the ground wire for the radio or something that went wrong when re connecting the remote wire???
