just in general, any good? i can't give a specific model number or anything cuz honestly i can't find the link atm
i have the KS series 6 1/2s. i think they sound great.
Some of their speakers aren't too horrible for their prices. I mean, if you want drop in coaxial replacements, I'm sure they have something decent for ya. But for a nicer, higher end component set, I don't think they can really compete with some others in their price ranges.

such as? the rear speakers i'm not terribly worried about but i'd like some decent components up front. what type of deck would you recommend for good quality sound, i'm not worried about bass. i'd like to have some when necessary but i pretty rarely listen to rap and pop. i'm looking for a good sounding set up for rock mostly. my big thing is good clean sound, i used to not care but i figure if i'm gonna be dropping money into the audio might as well make it sound good. or halfway decent lolz
Well a sub is a vital part of a well rounded system no matter what the music is. So what are you looking to spend on everything and what features do you require in your head unit?

One amazing brand that a lot of people overlook is Hertz. They are amazing. I've put a lot in my day and planning on dropping them in my front and rears. Only problem is with the ones I'm putting in I have to cut the door behind the panel. and thats with a spacer. Yet I'm still in the planning stages so I know its going to change hundreds of times lol.
The issue here, he is asking about kicker so I'm doubting he has the budget for hertz

125-175 on the deck, 150 or so for each set of speakers. and i honestly had no intentions of ever getting a sub. absolutely necessary? big reason i say so no to the sub is my trunk is stripped, like bare stripped. trying to keep weight to an absolute minumum. i don't mind the full interior but the trunk is one place i have no desire to be carrying extra weight.
oh and all the deck has to do is play cd's and have an aux hook up. i need nothing fancy.

matched with what for the rears?
Rears? I used a piece of wood. Requires zero watts and the sound is better
I forgot you wanted them.
Loved that answer, dude lol. Yeah, if on a tight budget and you want the best sound, absolutely ditch rears. gives you money for front speakers and a good amp for them. a sub because anything lower than 60-80hz is going to be lacking hard with just normal speakers. theres a lot of music down there to be heard!

so, help me out with a setup then? what deck? what up front? and what..............for a POSSIBLE sub. lol
If u want to put 220-250 into a kick ass front setup, rainbow slc-265NG's without a doubt. Look at some alpine, pioneer, and kenwood decks in ur price range and see what has the features u want and make sure to get one with 2-3 sets of preouts. Eclipse has some decent(but ugly imo) decks for good prices too.
At that point find yourself a nice 10" sub that will perform well sealed and u can have a nice lightweight setup. Not to plug my own stuff, but I happen to have an id10 for sale that would sound amazing in 1 cuube sealed lol. Also, definitely have a kick ass enclosure builder I could get u with. 110 or so for a top notch hand built sealed box.
At that point a small mono and 2 channel or even beefy 4 channel would do ya. Amp options are heavily dependant oon what sub and speakers. U chose and there's a tooonnn of options.
That's, what like 500 if u factor in 150 for the deck. Sub for around 100 and then left for ur amp(s).
You can revamp your stereo with high quality stuff for faily cheap man, just depends what u budget

Just got off the phone with him. He doesn't carry focal. They're a direct competitor of his 3 big speaker brands and said they don't have a single product that stands out enough to conflict with 3 braands that he has had for yrs. So with that said he also said slc265ngs for 260 to ur door. If u prefer a more laid back and transparent front stage he also carried dls and their stuff isn't quite as bright and powerful

Do this!!!! I know you don't think you want a sub, but youll miss the bass. 107 will get you a 10" alpine type-r and a single one of those will be more than enough.
the id10 jl has is also a great sub.
as for the deck, just dont get something dumb like dual, boss, or pyle. make sure it has any features you want (hdradio, sat radio, ipod control, eq, etc.)
oh and the rainbow will make your ears very very happy if you chose to buy them.
when you grab amps, overstock.com auctions usually has some good deals on s1-2 year old models that are still pretty high quality(kenwood 900W mono amp for 35 type of stuff)
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
thanks for all the help guys, i think i'm going to get looking at decks and some new speakers for up front and take it from there.
Like I said, if you end up wanting to dip into some higher end speakers and give Rainbow a try, let me know. Got a set price quote on the SLC265NG's from my dealer today.
