In the trunk of my 03 cavalier there is bolted to the left upper side of the shell of the wheel well a stock GM audio amplifier. The P/N is 22670845 if anyone knows anything about it.
I was wondering if taking this out ( Disconnecting It) would mess anything up, even though i have an aftermarket radio. Now you may be saying, hey guy, why not just unplug it an find out? Well thats a good question, but i would if the car was in running condition. It is currently down for paint and performance mods. So any help would be very appreciated.
Thank you!

he could have the monsoon system although if memory serves the amp is in the rear of the car

If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
I gutted an 02 that had one. The factory amp was in the area of the right rear in the trunk. Don't know much about it, but to remove it you would either have to run new speaker wires or connect the inputs and outputs for that amp. Not sure if the wires are the same colors as the factory non-amp system either.

Monsoon is only found in a Sunfire.
The 'amplified' system in a Cavalier, is only for the rear speakers. It's on the left side... not the right. The speakers in the rear deck (the 6x9's) should have four wires to them... the rear output from the factory radio goes to the amplifier, then to the rear speakers.
If you remove the amp.. you'll have to jump the wires at the plug from the factory radio outputs to the rear 6x9's... and replace the four wire 6x9's with some aftermarket 2-wire ones...
Awesome reply John Lenko. Thanks for the answer. Now to get the error message fixed that keeps popping up on my black cat gauges.
P.S. I did say left side in my question, but your still the man.

That left side bit was in response to Ryan Pitt's reply. There is no room for an amp on the right side of the trunk anyway, because of the fuel filler door pocket and radio antenna.
If you do remove the amp and need to figure out which pins to jump out in order to keep it working... just let us know.
