Want two twelves in a ported box. I have made my mind up and I am down to the alpine or JL. Both are about the same price. Which pair from your guys' experience are louder and sound better? Thanks.

I don't know about the w3's space requirements, but I know a proper vented enclosure for a
single 12" Type-R takes up most of the space. So you might take your airspace into consideration. You can use one of either ported or both sealed fine, but I don't know about getting a box ported box for 2 12's, but I could be wrong, just something to think about. I know my ported single box for 13w6 is barely fitting as it is and I have to cut the triangular pieces out of the back of the trunk to slide it into the back since it wont go in through the trunk. But, I could be wrong and not trying to spread misinformation, just seems like you might have an issue with space. I hope it works out though.
Also, I had a Type R and it was LOUD with the right amount of power, it will def. get louder than a W3, but If W3 is as musical as the W6 or W7's ive had, it will have better sound quality, but that will all come back to the proper box and tuning.

Personally I think the 12w3 would be the better choice. But its all personal preference.
sundown sa-12.... lol, not only louder head to head than a type r, but also is the best sounding sub ive heard, one of the high end shops around here have complimented me on them, he said that they were the best sounding subs he's heard in a front fire set up like mine. no mechanical noise at beyond full tilt.

More than youre going to spend on two Type-Rs. About $200 apiece if I remember correctly. dB-r doesnt have them listed for sale right now. Id have to email Jacob at Sundown to find out.
Anton if you like the sound of the SAs definitely check out the Z-series if hes making a 12 yet. Though the Z series may have been moved up to light SPL duty and replaced with the SA series. I cant remember. Ive been out of the game awhile.

the sa-12 is 190 shipped from ssa store, or if your near a dealer they will be able to sell it you as well, may i ask where are you located?
and im a sales rep for sundown now through a company called top dog audio, and yep im selling my sa-12's tomorrow and ordering some z's im nervous about tinsel slap (playing with a nightshade 12 right now and its horrible) as i have to demo for customers and shops in the area quiet often and dont want any @!#$ty noises coming from the subs. but we will see. i cant wait for the Zv3 to come out!!! woven leads FTW!!

Your Single 13W6 barely fits????
I can pick mine up and throw it from 10 feet away and it will land in the trunk. Ported to JL spec.
I should have had you build the box then lol, its a pretty tight fit because of the hinges and battery relocation and I have no idea how ill fit an amp rack. The box for the 12w7 I traded you didn't have much extra room either, and now it comes up higher because of the bigger diameter but its basically the same shape. I just don't see how two would fit is my point because there is room for one, but not a ton of extra space in a ported box. I was just giving him something to think about, not saying it wasn't going to work for sure.
