Ok well I plan to relocate the battery while temporarily using OEM (not optima yet) battery, questions are.....
-048100 series
1) with this kit, wouldn't it be easier to just run the alt, and the positive wires from battery at the fuse box under the hood(if choose to keep it there)
2)as long as the vent tube is drilled to the bottom of the car an OEM battery should be fine?
3)since this kit did not come with any fuses or anything, and our stock wiring has no fuses at positive wires, are they really needed if wires are mounted securely?
4) I plan to put amp at spare tire cover and put the subs between wheel-well and far back part along the wall where bumper sits, what is the best way to have the wires ran, I guess better to say the positive wire I want to run to amp, best to drill hole in sealed box, use the extra rubber gromet and install with side mount like you would under the hood?
5) where is the best spot for cut-off switch(currently don't have yet) as I plan to install before I hit the track this year?
6) I hear about guys crying about battery dying faster after relocate, whats being done wrong?
7) I hear too many ways to run the ground wire, why not bolt it down where you drill the holes to frame(clean and mount)?
My biggest concern mainly is the OEM style battery as I dont have one at the moment, and not sure when I am getting one right now would like to do the relocate and get working right then install cut-off and get an Optima battery, and be able to run the system when not at the track, as I like my music for long drives, or night time. I also plan to have car painted as there is a few car shows up here(so I hear), and would just like to enter to show some people can do things right. Any help would be nice sorry if been answered but too many different answers. Thank you in advance

You can do it that way if you like. I put my fuse box in the interior and then ran another line of the fuse box to the starter and then to the alt.
There is a vent on the rear pass side. Run a tube from the sealed battery box out there and you will be fine
You should use a breaker not a fuse for the relocate. This way if it ever trips you can re set it and not worry about carrying extra fuses
Run the wires under the carpet? Somebody may have some other suggestions for this
This is totally up to you, maybe as close to the plate as you can, just try to keep it clean?
Iv had my battery in the back for years, never had a single issue with it dying or losing charge faster.
Try to keep your ground as short as possible, I used a existing hole under a tailight, cleaned up the surface and mounted the ground there.
Like I said some other may have some other ideas, im just putting what I did out there for you. Good luck!

but if the kits and the car have no fuses in there, then why would you need any it you mount the wires right? sorry but the idea I gave was the one we were using at the dealership I worked at for the mustangs and the shelbys, we never used fuses or anything just added to the wires(more or less)

Its just a saftey thing. If that wire ever grounds out via rubbbing on the chassis over time or for whatever reason your gonna have a live line dead shorting the battery. Not a good thing at all. You dont have to have one per say, I did it just for the safety factor. A 80 amp circuit breaker is what im using.

I don't care how thorough you are, and how careful you are, things can happen. If you don't think you need a breaker or fuse to protect 15 feet of battery cable going the length of the vehicle, you're nuts. PERIOD. Protect the wire, protect the car.

well I was only going with the way we installed on the GT and shelbys, as they do not have any at all, then again I only install what was given

wait.... that dog needs to be protected by a fuse on his power wire? Why is that dog in his car? WTF?!? lol

besides that thats the reason I was asking the questions to be sure 100 percent, as I am going to be doing the swap to the trunk, and any doubts its better to ask

Relocating Batteries to the Trunk
Optimas are a poor choice. I have been through 3 sets, that's 6 batteries. They do not like to sit even with a trickle charger on them. Optima recommends hitting them with 10 amp charger for several hours to attempt to bring them back to life..... If it will be driven weekly you should be fine.
You need that line fused/breakered less than 18 inches from both batteries just as the other guys mentioned.

Yeah I never read what kind of battery you were planning to use, but Optima's are probably not the best option. Especially not the red top, if it ends up needing to start the car regularly.

Im going to be running the OEM, thats why going to be running the vent tube, so I take it optima went downhill since my last one lol

Ive never had a problem with my Optima.

Really? Iv had mine for a few years now and never had a single issue. It was mounted in the stock location and now in the back and its still going strong. I was always told these red top optima's were one of the best batterys around. What other types would you go with? Just curious

I'm on my second one, but with a three year warranty its not like its a big deal. It definitly works a lot better then my wal mart never start did.
well thats why thinking stick with OEM replacement battery wouldnt matter as its vented so nothing to worry about

for 200 the sears platinum is a agm battery that may work well, since its going in the trunk you can get non cav ones that put out 930 cca. heavy as heck but they work.
