Not sure if this is the place to post it but its electronic I guess.
Car: '99 cav z24... Well Optioned
RPO sticker was missing when i got the car, was gone for previous owner as well. Did a vin search to find the paint code, Saw a code on there said remote/keyless entry.
I don't have the clickers for keyless entry, PO doesn't either... Thinking they were lost at dealership he bought it from.
My question is, and maybe you GM techs can help here, what is the best way to replace the "clicker"? Can I get an aftermarket or universal one? Or do I have to go through a dealership and get raped just so I don't have to stick the key in the door every time?
Any Info Appreciated!
You could always go with a cheap aftermarket keyless unit from someone like directed or autostart. More range than stock and probably cheaper than buying replacement parts from the stealership.
Try a late model salvage yard, they usually have a few of them around, i don't know how much they are to program at the dealer, but they can reprogram used ones.
get one from ebay for 96-99 models. nothing over 99 years. you can program it yourself using a flat head screwdriver or a paper clip. click the link below.. it has everything you need to know. i programed my 99s keyfob in about 5mins.

Does anyone know if I can program a keyless for a 2002 without going to a dealership?
Bought a used keyless entry on eBay for $10. Then got a quote for $250 to program it.
No clue dude. I got my clicker online & programmed myself in 5 mins... I dont think there is any way around it for you.

Wow, $250 for 2 minutes of work? That's a heck of a labor rate.
The GM dealer I bought my cars from lets me use the Tech 2 to program my own remotes. And radios. And BCMs.... free of charge.

Yeah it's ridiculous. So there's no way to program it myself?
